Doug Ross:
Odd that we don't hear much about that "evil, imperialistic Bush presidency" much these days.
A flyer designed by the FBI and the Department of Justice to promote suspicious activity reporting in internet cafes lists basic tools used for online privacy as potential signs of terrorist activity. The document, part of a program called “Communities Against Terrorism”, lists the use of “anonymizers, portals, or other means to shield IP address” as a sign that a person could be engaged in or supporting terrorist activity. The use of encryption is also listed as a suspicious activity along with steganography, the practice of using “software to hide encrypted data in digital photos” or other media. In fact, the flyer recommends that anyone “overly concerned about privacy” or attempting to “shield the screen from view of others” should be considered suspicious and potentially engaged in terrorist activities.
...Logging into an account associated with a residential internet service provider (such as Comcast or AOL), an activity that could simply indicate that you are on a trip, is also considered a suspicious activity. Viewing any content related to “military tactics” including manuals or “revolutionary literature” is also considered a potential indicator of terrorist activity. This would mean that viewing a number of websites, including the one you are on right now, could be construed by a hapless employee as an highly suspicious activity potentially linking you to terrorism.
Well, all of these warnings seem justified. After all, the DHS was eerily prescient when it warned of imminent attacks by right-wing extremists in 2009.

Perfect: Obama pulls combat pay for U.S. troops
Doug Ross:
But he obviously holds the U.S. military in very high esteem.
President Obama’s latest policy outrage makes no attempt to hide his contempt for our military, as he is ordering that our troops serving overseas in war zones overseas are not to receive combat pay unless they are being shot at. A Marine who lives in Florida has just posted a note on Facebook which stated that he received a letter from his PayPal account that he would only be receiving his Hazard pay (Imminent Danger Pay) if he is actually in a hostile area and at risk of being shot at...
...According to Military.com, as of February 1, 2012, this new measure went into effect, and soldiers who are to received the additional $225/mo. combat pay ‘must’ must be in immediate risk of harm. The measure is very specific in its criteria for receiving the additonal pay.
This follows efforts by the president to make veterans pay for their own health insurance -- even those injured in combat -- and his calls last month for raises for millions of federal paper-pushers.
In other words, the president continues to siphon off more and more money from our defense infrastructure -- hitting our warriors first, last and hardest in the process -- to fund his green energy scams and public sector union cronies (which, coincidentally, also contribute heavily to his campaign).

Daily Benefactor News – Seattle Libraries Approve Hardcore Porn-Watching In Front Of Children
Daily Benefactor:
Seattle libraries will not allow patrons to eat or sleep or go barefoot. But they can watch all the hardcore porn they want in front of children.
Seattle PI reported:
The Seattle Public Library has a long list of rules of things you can't do in the library, to ensure "comfort and safety" of staff and patrons. You can't eat, sleep, look like you're sleeping, be barefoot, be too stinky or talk too loudly.
But you can watch graphic porn on a public computer in front of kids. Despite repeated complaints from female patrons about men watching porn in full view of their children, the library has held fast to its policy of unfettered online access for grown-ups.
The reason: It's not in the business of censorship.
The latest dust-up comes after a mother with her two kids saw a man watching "hard-core porn" at the Lake City library and complained. When the librarian refused to ask the man move to a less visible screen, Julie Howe wrote the library, the media and lawyers and got on KUOW.
"It was very shocking," said Howe, whose 10-year-old girl had seen the man's screen and cried that night. But, she acknowledged, "it's not an easy one to solve."
Other libraries also allow porn
The library's position was mirrored elsewhere. The King County Library System has a similar policy, of filtering kids’ access on computers, while allowing adults to roam freely. The American Library Association endorses the same stance.
"Sometimes, in a library, you're going to see information that's going to make you uncomfortable," Barbara Jones, director of the association's intellectual freedom office, said on KUOW Wednesday.
Stephen Kruiser has more on the right to watch porn in public.

Scott Walker Supporters Take Up Effort to Write in Gov ’s Name in Democratic Primary
The Blaze:
Supporters of Wisconsin Republican Gov. Scott Walker are attempting to spoil the recall effort against him with a campaign to get voters to write the governor‘s name in as a candidate in the state’s Democratic primary to seek an opponent for him.
Walker opponents officially filed petitions last month to force a recall election in an attempt to oust the governor from office.
According to the Menomonee Falls Patch, the write-in effort started as a conversation on Facebook, but in little more than a week the page “Operation: Write in Scott Walker in Democrat primary“ garnered more than 900 ”likes.”
“If we can gain a majority of the votes in the [D]emocratic primary we will have defeated the [D]emocrats at their game and save [sic] the tax payers millions of dollars,” the page states. In addition to Wisconsin-related news, recent postings on the page include anti-Obama and anti-Nancy Pelosi links.
Such a write-in effort is possible under Wisconsin’s open primary system, which allows voters to vote in a party’s primary even if they do not share its political affiliation.
Still, it’s not clear what would happen in the general recall election if the effort were successful, the Patch reported, and the Government Accountability Board — the body overseeing the recall effort — would not speculate.
“The law requires a space for write-in on the ballot,” spokesman Reid Magney said. “Beyond that, it would be premature for us to comment on something that involves so much speculation.”
John Willock, a volunteer with Friends of Scott Walker and a fan of the write-in page, said the plan is getting a lot of buzz.
“I go from one side of the state to the next during my work day, and I’ve heard people talking about it from Racine to Eau Claire,” Willock said. “It’s not really an organized effort, but there’s a lot of people talking about it.”
Wisconsin Democratic Party spokesman Graeme Zielinksi dismissed the chance of any kind of Walker write-in campaign succeeding, telling the Patch his first reaction to it was “Surprise, then laughter.”
“Republicans seem frightened by democracy and the will of the people and, given what Scott Walker has done to ruin Wisconsin, they should be,” Zielinski said.
As The Blaze previously reported, efforts to recall Walker stem from anger over his successful move to effectively end collective bargaining rights for most public workers.

Poll: Santorum Beats Obama
Daily Presidential Tracking Poll
Saturday, February 04, 2012
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 26% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14 (see trends).
In a potential Election 2012 matchup, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum is at 45% while President Obama earns 44%. This is the first time in any poll that Santorum has led the president. Several other GOP challengers have led the president a single time in the polls including Rick Perry, Herman Cain, and Newt Gingrich. Each man briefly held the lead while they were surging in the polls, only to fall quickly. It remains to be seen what will happen to Santorum’s support.

Unions Plan Siege On Conservative Political Action Conference
Next weekend, political conservatives from all over the nation will be descending on Washington, DC to attend the annual Conservative Political Action Conference—better known as CPAC. Across town, however, union bosses and their adopted #OccupyDC progeny appear to be planning to disrupt and lay siege to the conservative conference. LINK
Obama's Fascination with Taliban Baffles Even Democrats
The Obama Administration is reportedly working on a deal to release five Taliban terrorists held at Gitmo as an “incentive” to talk peace in Afghanistan. Taliban leader Mullah Omar reportedly has “demanded” the Gitmo prisoners release as a pre-condition to any talks. The prisoners are among the most dangerous captured since the 9/11/01 attacks. As recently as last May, the White House announced that the 172 detainees still at Gitmo were too dangerous to move. LINK
Cost for Doing God's Work Declines from $13.2 Million to $9 Million
Inquiring minds note a stunning drop in the price for doing God's Work. Last year Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein received a salary of a $600,000 as well as a stock bonus worth $12.6 million.
This year the base salary for doing God's work rose to $2 million, however, bonuses fell to a shockingly-low $7 million. The net effect is a decline from $13.2 million to $9 million.
That is a 30% reduction in the overall cost of doing God's work. Said Blankfein "Now I know how those in Greece feel".

What Were Ronald Reagan’s Achievements?
February 6 is Ronald Reagan’s birthday. While the right has long looked to Reagan as the standard-bearer of conservative leadership, over the past few years, even liberals are waxing Reaganesque.
For instance, before he was the class warrior in the mold of Teddy Roosevelt, President Obama invoked the Gipper to support his millionaire tax. As Reagan historian Steven Hayward remarked, “Ever so slowly, liberals are attempting a subtle revisionism” of our 40th President.
Let’s set the record straight. Just take a look at Ronald Reagan’s greatest achievements as evidence of his conservatism......

Worse Than Death Panels
TownHall:
During the debate over ObamaCare, more than one critic charged that government panels would make life and death decisions affecting patient care.
Now it seems the Obama administration is contemplating something that is even scarier: doctors would be given immunity from malpractice lawsuits, but only if they practice medicine according to government guidelines. The pressure would be enormous. Have you ever met a doctor who wanted to be sued?
The original "death panel" charges were not entirely baseless. Former Senator Tom Daschle, who wrote the blueprint for health reform, advocated a "comparative effectiveness" agency that would decide which medical procedures were worthwhile and which ones were not. As a model, Dashiell pointed to the National Institute for Comparative Effectiveness (NICE) in Britain. How are patients faring under that regime? According to the World Health Organization, about 25,000 British patients die prematurely every year because they do not have access to cancer drugs that are routinely available in the United States and continental Europe.
There is no similar agency with comparable powers under ObamaCare. But there are many ways in which the same results can be achieved indirectly. For example, Medicare has announced it will start paying more to hospitals that follow a dozen procedures, including administering antibiotics prior to surgery and anticlotting medication to heart attack patients. It will pay less to hospitals that don’t comply. The same thing is about to happen to doctors. Those who comply on up to 194 different metrics — including adopting electronic medical records — will get higher fees. Those who resist will get lower ones.
These are examples of a much larger trend: Washington telling the medical community how to practice medicine. Even though a recent study finds little relationship between the inputs Medicare wants to pay for and such outputs as patient survival, and even though the latest pilot programs show that paying doctors and hospitals for performance doesn’t improve quality, we are about to usher in the era of big brother medical care.
Remember these words: "evidence-based care." They are likely to be very much a part of your future. IF you are elderly or disabled, odds are that Medicare will eventually refuse to pay for any procedures that aren’t evidence-based. If you get health insurance at work, your employer will probably do the same. If you buy your own insurance, you won’t have much choice about the matter. The only health insurers that will be allowed in the new (ObamaCare) health insurance exchanges — certainly the only ones that survive — will be those that limit coverage to evidence-based care.
Before long, virtually all doctors will be practicing only the kind of medicine the health plans cover. After all, most doctors like to get paid for what they do. If that’s not incentive enough, the Obama administration has a medical malpractice carrot and stick it wants to try out. If doctors follow protocols and guidelines developed by committees of experts, they will be immune from lawsuits. If they don’t, they will have to take their chances.
This idea was first proposed by President Obama’s one-time top economist: former Office of Management and Budget director, Pete Orszag. Writing in The New York Times over a year ago, Orszag proposed to give doctors a safe harbor against lawsuits if they followed evidenced-based guidelines. That idea has now been incorporated in a memo to the president, written by former health advisors Nancy-Ann DeParle and Susan Scher.
So what’s wrong with evidence-based medicine? Wouldn’t you want your doctor to make decisions based on scientifically verified evidence?
Think about the calendar you keep on your laptop or your cell phone. It’s probably an invaluable aide to help you organize your life. Now suppose that instead of being your servant, the calendar becomes your master. What if there were a rule that says you can’t do anything during the week unless it is on the calendar by Sunday? Call this "calendar-based scheduling." Instead of being an aid, the calendar would quickly become an oppressive barrier to your freedom of action. The same principle applies in medicine. Protocols and guidelines can be helpful or harmful, depending on how they are used. And there are five reasons why such guidelines — in the wrong hands — can reduce the quality of care you receive.
First, most of what doctors do has never been subjected to clinical trials and peer reviewed studies. There has never been a double blind test of the benefits of setting a broken leg, for example. Most of what doctors do is what they and their colleagues have found to work. A study by the Institute of Medicine, for example, concludes that "the evidence base on the effectiveness of most health services is sparse."
In another Institute of Medicine study, researchers found that fewer than 20% of the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology heart disease management recommendations "are based on a high level of evidence." If doctors were forced to do only those things that are evidenced-based, patients would be deprived of most of what doctors do.
Not only are there no treatment guidelines in most areas of medicine, where there are, they are often unreliable, conflicting and incomplete. Even for something as straightforward as deciding when women should get mammograms there is conflicting advice. If insurers have to choose among conflicting and inconsistent guidelines, which ones do you think they will choose? The ones that cost them less money, of course.
Second, even where there are well established guidelines, they are inevitably written for the average patient. But suppose you are not average. Is your doctor free to step outside the protocols and give you care based on her training, knowledge and experience? Or will she be pressured to stick to the cookbook, regardless of how the patient fares? Health plans always say that doctors are free to step outside the guidelines if they have good reason for doing so. But if the doctor is forced to fill out multiple forms and jump through lots of hoops, many will conform to the guidelines even if that’s bad for you.
Third, guidelines are often written by people who are not disinterested. One study found that 56 percent of the doctors who helped write guidelines for treatment of heart ailments had potential conflicts of interest.
Fourth, evidence-based guidelines are based on studies; and these studies often exclude entire segments of the population. For example, a large number of studies of patients with heart failure excluded elderly patients, even though most of the people who have this problem are elderly! If you are an elderly patient do you want your doctor to follow procedures that were based on studies of patients 30 or 40 years younger than you are? According to Don Taylor, a health policy analyst at Duke University, it is not at all unusual to exclude patients with characteristics and conditions from clinical trials who are then subjected to the guidelines after the trial is over.
Finally, the whole idea behind guidelines and protocols is that it is appropriate to treat patients with similar conditions the same way. But individuals are individuals. They don’t always respond to treatments the same way. For substance abuse, for example, there apparently is no such thing as a protocol that works for diverse groups of patients.

Indiana election chief found guilty of voter fraud
Associated Press:
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana's top elections official has been found guilty of six of seven voter fraud-related charges and faces removal from office.
Hamilton County jurors returned the verdict against Secretary of State Charlie White about 1:30 a.m. Saturday after deliberating for nearly 13 hours.
White was accused of lying about where he lived when he registered to vote in the May 2010 Republican primary. Prosecutors said he used his ex-wife's address instead of a condo he had with his fiancDee to keep his $1,000-per-month Fishers Town Council salary despite moving out of his council district.
He faced seven felony charges.
State law bars anyone convicted of a felony from remaining in office. It wasn't immediately clear how quickly White could be replaced or who might succeed him.

The Wrath of the Abortion Movement Unleashed on Komen americanthinker.com [11] ∞
From american thinker:
If you are confused about what is actually happening with the decision of the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure Foundation to change its grant criteria, you are not alone. The vicious fury of pro-abortion lobby is the real story of the decision of the Komen foundation to detach itself from grants to Planned Parenthood.
So iconic is the status of Planned Parenthood that, in the wake of this decision, numerous abortion supporters decided to punish Komen. Senator Barbara Boxer said that she was "reminded of the McCarthy era" and ludicrously complained "are they going to the attack the American Lung Association? The YMCA? The YWCA?" The American Association of University Women cancelled a yearly college student workshop with Komen. And the Yale School of Public Health is "reviewing" its decision to have Nancy Brinker, the Komen founder, speak at their Commencement. Abortion zealot New York Mayor Bloomberg offered $250,000 to Planned Parenthood to replace lost funding.
But Komen did not completely cut Planned Parenthood out of current funding or exclude Planned Parenthood from future funding. Nor did they reverse the original decision and decide to re-fund Planned Parenthood in the future. They merely reversed their decision in favor of considering Planned Parenthood's eligibility for future grants. The Komen foundation is rightfully concerned that Planned Parenthood is the focus of federal and state investigations for financial irregularities, fraud, sex trafficking, failure to comply with laws requiring reporting minor's sexual abuse and parental notification for abortion, as well as substandard medical care.
The extreme liberal backlash is out of proportion to Komen's largely symbolic $600,000 grant to Planned Parenthood. This is a relatively trivial amount when compared to Planned Parenthood's billion dollar budget. The Komen grant allows Planned Parenthood to pretend that it is an authentic women's health care provider and immunizes the organization from the reality that the organization is mainly about abortions. Planned Parenthood provided 332,278 abortions in 2009, about one-quarter of those performed in the USA. The organization claims that abortion comprises only 3% of their services, but this is statistical manipulation. If a woman shows up for abortion, she can receive a pap smear, STD test, hemoglobin and blood type, all related to the abortion. Planned Parenthood can claim that they have provided four services in addition to the abortion. Planned Parenthood is also a major purveyor of birth control pills, a risk factor for breast cancer acknowledged but underestimated on Komen's own web site.
It is logical that The Susan G Komen Foundation would want to partner with high risk groups for breast cancer, which is primarily a disease of older women, to improve the impact of its grants. Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms, although at one point it claimed to do so. Breast cancer is the most common cause of death of women in their 40's and the second most common death of women over 50. An especially vulnerable group is uninsured women from ages 50-65, before Medicare eligibility. The main demographic group Planned Parenthood serves is young reproductive age women. But women almost never get breast cancer under the age of thirty, and uncommonly from 30-40, although Susan G. Komen herself, the foundation's namesake and sister of the founder, was diagnosed and died in her thirties. The incidence of breast cancer in younger women has increased, mainly due to lifestyle changes such as later childbearing, hormonal contraception, and induced abortion, although breast cancer can certainly occur without any of these factors. A recent study on linking the deadliest type of premenopausal breast cancer to the pill is a case in point.
It has always seemed ironic that Komen would give grants to Planned Parenthood, whose medical practices and promotion of unhealthy life styles are instrumental in the increase in breast cancer that has been evident in past decades. There are other organizations that have for years told the whole truth about breast cancer risk from hormonal contraception and induced abortion, in addition to enumerating non-controversial risk factors such as family history, obesity, late menopause etc. The vitriol unleashed on the Komen foundation recalls the fury that descends on those who dare to acknowledge the link between abortion and breast cancer, and the strong incentives for scientists to ignore or cover up research supporting this relationship. The powerful "reproductive health" establishment and its political, medical and media allies were threatened by a relatively trivial act of the Susan G Komen Foundation to more effectively help women at risk for breast cancer and extract itself from its relationship with Planned Parenthood. Let us hope that truth emerges from this debacle.

Will America Embrace Protectionism?
Some fear America is about to go protectionist. Others fear it won’t. Where you stand on this issue depends on where you sit. Sit in the chair of the CEO of a major exporter, and you fear protectionism and the ever-rising spiral of retaliations. Sit in the chair of the president of a trade union, and you welcome what others call protectionism and you call fair trade. Sit in the chair of a Wal-Mart customer and you fear anything that will drive up prices, putting pressure on your over-stretched budget. Sit on the sofa of an unemployed worker whose lost job is being filled by a $1-a-day Chinese worker, and protectionism is just what the nation needs—unless you just paid $69 for a made-in-China tire that cost $39 before the US imposed high tariffs on imports of these low-end tires. Harry Reid: No Budget Proposal From Democrats This Year
Surprise!
(Daily Caller) — Senate Democratic leaders do not plan to propose a budget this year, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told reporters Friday, saying that they had already done so with the debt-ceiling agreement.
“We do not need to bring a budget to the floor this year — it’s done, we don’t need to do it,” Reid said, according to The Hill.
Democrats have said that the agreement reached to raise the debt ceiling set spending for Fiscal Year 2012.
Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND), chairman of the Budget Committee, has said he will mark up a budget resolution this year, per an agreement he made with Budget Committee ranking member and Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions. [...]
“It’s been more than 1,000 days since Senate Democrats have offered a budget plan to the American people. Now, once again, the Senate’s ineffectual Democrat majority balks at the task of leadership,” said Sessions in a statement.

ACORN Manipulating Votes Again – This Time, DOJ Helping
Excerpted from Western Journalism:
Not only is Barack Obama’s Department of Justice pleased to file suit against states which seek to legally ensure only registered voters who are American citizens will vote in the upcoming election; it is now actively working with ACORN’s “Project Vote” to register voters revealed to be quite illegal!
Documents obtained from the Colorado Department of State show ACORN and its Project Vote had pressured the State to make it “easier” for welfare recipients to register to vote in the 2008 and 2010 elections. And after those changes, “…the percentage of invalid voter registration forms from Colorado public assistance agencies was four times the national average.”
And not only is the Department of Justice doing everything in its power to make certain illegal voters in November will be many and their votes counted; officials from both the Department and the White House have met with Estelle Rogers, Director of Advocacy for ACORN’s Project Vote for the purpose of discussing strategy.
And that strategy is of course directed at making sure Barack Hussein Obama remains in the White House with the assistance of as many illegal votes as possible.
The Examiner reports that “…70 ACORN employees in 12 states have been convicted of voter registration fraud.” And “…of the 1.3 million registrations Project Vote/ACORN submitted in the 2008 election cycle, more than one third were invalid.”
And Rogers herself wields her connection to the Obama White House and Justice Department like a club, threatening states with DOJ lawsuits should they actually attempt to make certain that elections are honest and voters properly screened.

ABC Alters ESPN Reporter's Quote to Attack Faith of 'Astonishingly Polarizing' Tim Tebow
The journalists at Good Morning America on Friday altered a quote from an ESPN reporter, turning a question about Tim Tebow into a declaration that the faith of the quarterback is why he's such an "astonishingly polarizing," "divisive figure."
On ESPN 2's First Take, Skip Bayless wondered, "Do you believe your faith is the biggest reason you're such an astonishingly polarizing figure, a divisive figure in the country? Everybody has a strong opinion, love him or hate him, on Tebow." During the Josh Elliott segment on GMA, Bayless's query became a proclamation: "Your faith is the biggest reason you're such an astonishingly polarizing figure, a divisive figure in the country." The Military Is Now Telling Catholic Chaplains What They Can And Can't Say About The Obama Administration
The emerging conflict between the Catholic Church and the Obama administration may have a new front: in the U.S. military itself.
The Catholic Church is fighting mad about an HHS ruling that would have them buy insurance for things they consider sinful–contraception, sterilization and abortion.
All the bishops in the country sent out a letter to be read in their parishes promising that the Church "cannot-and will not-comply with this unjust law."
Even Archbishop Timothy Broglio, who is in charge of Catholic military chaplains sent out the same letter.
But after he did.....

First it was the free government cell phone scam. Now it’s the free government internet scam.
You work hard, pay your bills on time, try to raise your kids to know right from wrong, and if you’re lucky you can even stash a few bucks in the bank every month.
What the hell is wrong with you? This is not the way to get ahead in the America of 2012.
Remember that free government cell phones scam we wrote about last year? Well, it turns out people loved that freebie so much, the Federal Communications Commission has now approved cheap internet for the downtrodden, the deadbeats and the drug dealers.
Please allow us to repeat that in case you have been stricken catatonic by the mere thought of another government freebie:
The FCC just approved an extension of the free government cell phone program that will offers cheap, high-speed broadband internet service to the downtrodden, the deadbeats and the drug dealers.
Yes, the same high speed broadband for which you have to pay $49 or $69 or more per month, is now being offered to society’s losers for just $9.95 per month.

Not National News: Significant Non-Citizen Voting Found in Fla. Two Days After Tampa Editorial Says It's 'Nonexistent'
In what is apparently completely unimportant news to just about everyone except NBC2 in Southwest Florida and Andrew Breitbart, numerous instances of illegal voting by non-citizens have been uncovered. Projecting the problems across the state and into the rest of the nation would seem to indicate that many thousands of people who are registered to vote should never have been allowed to register and are routinely casting ballots illegally.

Lies, Damn Lies, and Obama's Unemployment Numbers
Look up bogus in the dictionary and odds are you'll see a picture of President Obama standing in front of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Such is the reputation of the BLS as the nation's leading producer of economic propaganda.
You may have seen their headline number of 8.3% unemployment earlier today. What you didn't see is that the BLS had to "disappear" 1.2 million people out of the workforce over the last month alone to achieve that "drop".
It’s the headline that a President facing re-election with a dismal economic record didn’t want to see:
1.2 million people driven out of the workforce in a single month!

HURT: ‘Islamist Firster’ president not what he claimed
Washington Times:
GOLAN HEIGHTS — Surveying the live minefields, cratered roads and mortar-pocked concrete buildings along the border here between Syria and Israel, it is hard not to be reminded of the historic and monumental disappointment President Obama has been.
When he was campaigning to become the most powerful man in the last standing superpower on Earth, he spoke passionately about changing the world, restoring America’s greatness and bringing more peace and fairness to everyone.
In both foreign and domestic matters, Mr. Obama had unique credibility to change things as few presidents ever had.
Despite his background as a liberal street organizer, he campaigned on tax cuts and personal responsibility and preached that the government simply cannot be the answer to every problem. Republicans would have no choice but to go along with an agenda to shrink the tax burden and get the federal government out of our everyday lives.
Instead, Mr. Obama has devoted his administration to raising taxes, adding to the byzantine structure of the federal government, and has created a whole new massive bureaucracy he claims really will cure our every little boo-boo.
As for the rest of the world, Mr. Obama promised to devote himself to healing the grave injustices and halting the atrocities that have afflicted the world since the rise of radical, violent jihadism. With his Muslim roots, Mr. Obama was positioned better than any leader on the global stage to speak with authority to radical Islamists and finally bring about permanent peace.
Instead, Mr. Obama chose to unilaterally alienate perhaps our most strategically important ally in the world and do all he can to cozy up to the very people who are dedicated to destroying not only Israel, but America as well.
Leading Democrats have been in the news lately sliming Americans who stick up for Israel as being “Israel Firsters.” Well, Mr. Obama has become an “Islamist Firster.”
Since becoming president, he has not once visited our greatest ally in the region. Rather, he has gone to places like Cairo to tell the Muslim world how much he likes it. He also stunningly trashed the oath of office he took by saying it is “part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.”
And, of course, he apologized for the “sexuality” and “mindless violence” from the West permeating the Internet. But Internet porn and creepy videos are little match for virginity tests, stoning women and beheading Jews — all for the fun of it.
When Mr. Obama finally addressed Israel, he shockingly said the tiny country should further retrench so its well-armed enemies can retake high ground from which to fire rockets at Israelis and move closer so they can hit major population centers such as Tel Aviv.
Such a twisted and half-baked view of justice is bad enough in a president. But things are about to get much more terrifying when Iran finally gets its hands on a nuclear warhead, which appears likely to happen in a matter of months.
It will be a very complicated situation because the most powerful man in the last remaining superpower on the planet is an Islamist Firster.

House bans welfare money from strip clubs, liquor stores
CBS NEWS:
The House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a bill that prohibits welfare recipients from using their government subsidy in strip clubs, liquor stores and casinos.
The measure easily received the necessary support of two-thirds of House members, with 395 voting in favor and only 27 opposing.
House Republicans introduced and promoted the proposal as a way to eliminate government wasteful spending. It has passed the House before, and they re-introduced it again hoping it will become part of a bill to extend the payroll tax credit, which both the House and Senate is expected to debate this month.
The Senate has not agreed to take up the measure.

DA: No hate crime in black-on-white cab attack
Philly.com
Three juveniles who allegedly assaulted a cab driver and his passenger in Center City Saturday night while shouting racial slurs will not be charged with a hate crime, according to the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office.
The teens, who are black, were not charged with hate crimes because there was no evidence that the assault was motivated by the victims' race, said Tasha Jamerson, district attorney spokeswoman. Just shouting racial epithets during the commission of a crime doesn't rise to the level of ethnic intimidation, she said.
"They just didn't have that in this case," she said. "If they had somebody who, two blocks before, heard them say 'We're going to beat somebody up because they're white, brown or purple,' it might be different."
However, the three teens - two of whom are 17 and one who is 15 - have all been hit with additional counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, conspiracy and recklessly endangering another person after the passenger in the cab, Brian Goldman, came forward Monday.
Around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Goldman was in a cab that was stopped at a red light at 15th and Chestnuts when he and his 53-year-old cab driver were assaulted at random. Goldman escaped but the cab driver was able to flag down officers who nabbed the teens.

Federal Jury Says Cops Can't Arrest People for Recording Police Encounters

In March 2009, Josh Schlossberg was distributing leaflets outside Umpqua Bank in downtown Eugene when Sgt. Bill Solesbee told him to move along. Schlossberg replied that his lawyer had advised him he was not breaking any laws. Solesbee then entered the bank and came back out. When he approached Schlossberg again, Schlossberg took out his camera and announced that he was recording the encounter. The Oregonian describes what happened next:

Kucinich Bills Would Control GMOs: Good Intent, Bad Policy
Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) is being hailed as a hero by natural food advocates nationwide for introducing several bills to protect the food supply from the unrestricted use of genetically modified organisms. However, others are pointing out that the bills are further examples of federal usurpation of power.
Happy Obama ‘one-term proposition’ day
redstate:
“If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.” – President Barack Obama on NBC’s “Today,” February 2, 2009:
Three years ago today, President Obama appeared on NBC’s “Today show and and made his infamous “one-term proposition” prediction:
“I will be held accountable. You know, I’ve got four years. … A year from now, I think people are gonna see that we’re starting to make some progress, but there’s still gonna be some pain out there. If I don’t this done in three years, then there’s gonna be a one-term proposition.”
I feel the pain, but I don’t see any progress. How about you? Even Obama admits that we are not better off than we were four years ago — inviting comparisons to the malaise of Jimmy Carter’s failed presidency.
It’s time to revisit the devastating video put together by the good folks at Minnesota Majority. The video uses Obama’s own metrics to assess his presidency. You can watch “Obama Presidency by the numbers” here.
The more people are exposed to Reagan’s “are you better off” question to Carter, the more the belief that Obama will also be a one-term president is reinforced.

Rasmussen: Number of Democrats falls to new all-time low
The number of Republicans in the country inched up half a percentage point in January, while the number of Democrats dipped to the lowest level ever recorded by Rasmussen Reports.
During January, 35.9% of Americans considered themselves Republicans. That’s up from 35.4% in December and the highest number of Republicans measured since December 2010.
Rasmussen Reports tracks this information based on telephone interviews with approximately 15,000 adults per month and has been doing so since November 2002. The margin of error for the full sample is less than one percentage point, with a 95% level of confidence.

Super Tuesday Ohio Primary poll: Gingrich 26 percent, Mitt Romney 25 percent, Santorum 22 percent, Ron Paul 11 percent

While National Review Online has been in the tank for Mitt Romney, it seems that Newsmax is in the tank for Newt Gingrich. Before Romney’s fourteen point win in Florida last night, Newsmax was pimping a poll they conducted showing Newt Gingrich “surging” to within five points of Romney. You know how that turned out. Now they are pimping a poll on Ohio, a March 6th (Super Tuesday) primary state as Gingrich and Santorum “surging.”
The “surge” as they call it shows Gingrich beating Romney by 1 point and Santorum by four points. This is a surge?

Welcome to CareerDestroyer.com!
Welcome to CareerDestroyer.com, where the rhetoric of President Obama and Washington Democrats meets the reality of a struggling economy.
In a recent online townhall, President Obama “appeared surprised” when the wife of an unemployed engineer told Obama about the difficulty her husband had in finding a new job. Obama asked the woman for her husband’s resume so he could find out “what is happening.”
With CareerDestroyer.com, you too can submit your resume to be sent to President Obama and Washington Democrats. After all, with 1.7 million jobs lost since they took complete control of Washington, who knows more about destroying jobs than Democrats in Washington?
Submit your resume above. The more resumes submitted, the more likely Democrats will finally get “what’s happening” - their policies have destroyed careers across this country

Gov't Cracks Down On Unlicensed Opinions
Creative Minority Report:
A blogger is being investigated for giving unlicensed advice.
Fact #1- I attended a nutritional seminar January 12, 2012. I spoke up against the normal deceptions and falsehoods that cause diabetics harm.
Fact #2- Someone took offense to my statements, found me on the internet and reviewed my site. They then reported me to the North Carolina Board of Dietitians.
Fact #3 - I received a phone call from the director of the State Board of Dietitians. To be fair and honest… she was very nice, polite and informative.
However…. She stated that I, as a non-licensed person could provide NO dietary or nutritional advice… period. It makes no difference if I am giving the advice away or if it’s for a fee.

Google to Censor Blogger Blogs on a `Per Country Basis'
Google has quietly announced changes to its Blogger free-blogging platform that will enable the blocking of content only in countries where censorship is required.
Twitter announced technology last week addressing the same topic. It said it had acquired the ability to censor tweets in the countries only where it was ordered removed, instead of on an internet-wide basis.
Twitter’s announcement via its blog sparked a huge online backlash. The microblogging service was accused of becoming a censoring agent.
Yet Google’s announcement three weeks ago — buried in a Blogger help page — went unnoticed until it was highlighted by TechDows on Tuesday.

Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?
In New Hampshire, Romney also spent heavily. More importantly, he was a “favorite son,” a familiar face and voice as a neighboring governor. And, of course, as he reminded voters in the Granite State repeatedly, he owned property in their state. Even so, he won with a less than commanding 39% of the vote.
So why does nearly every pundit and politician think that is the only “electable” candidate, the only one who can beat Obama?

**Update-Breaking News- Allen West to Run for Re-Election in Different Congressional District
**Update below
The Shark Tank has learned that Congressman Tom Rooney has announced that he is running for re-election to Congress in one of Florida’s two newly created congressional districts, and that Congressman Allen West will run for re-election in Congressman Rooney’s 16th Congressional District.
The speculation will now begin as to which Republican will run in Allen West’s 22nd Congressional District. It is possible that either George LeMieux or Adam Hanser could abandon their Senate candidacies and run in the district, as both are from the area. The possibility exists that other current candidates for Congress in adjoining congressional districts could enter the fray as well.
***Update-Marc Caputo is confirming what the Shark Tank has asserted since last year-Adam Hasner mulling over a possible run in Congressional District 22. This would mean that he would drop out of U.S. Senate race.

Santorum Endorsement
Michelle Malkin:
Rick Santorum opposed TARP.
He didn’t cave when Chicken Littles in Washington invoked a manufactured crisis in 2008. He didn’t follow the pro-bailout GOP crowd — including Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich — and he didn’t have to obfuscate or rationalize his position then or now, like Rick Perry and Herman Cain did. He also opposed the auto bailout, Freddie and Fannie bailout, and porkulus bills.
Santorum opposed individual health care mandates — clearly and forcefully — as far back as his 1994 U.S. Senate run. He has launched the most cogent, forceful fusillade against both Romney and Gingrich for their muddied, pro-individual health care mandate waters.
He voted against cap and trade in 2003, voted yes to drilling in ANWR, and unlike Romney and Gingrich, Santorum has never dabbled with eco-radicals like John Holdren, Al Gore and Nancy Pelosi. He hasn’t written any “Contracts with the Earth.”
Santorum is strong on border security, national security, and defense. Mitt the Flip-Flopper and Open Borders-Pandering Newt have been far less trustworthy on immigration enforcement.
Santorum is an eloquent spokesperson for the culture of life. He has been savaged and ridiculed by leftist elites for upholding traditional family values — not just in word, but in deed.
He won Iowa through hard work and competent campaign management. Santorum has improved in every GOP debate and gave his strongest performance last week in Florida, wherein he both dismantled Romneycare and popped the Newt bubble by directly challenging the front-runners’ character and candor without resorting to their petty tactics.
He rose above the fray by sticking to issues.
Most commendably, he refused to join Gingrich and Perry in indulging in the contemptible Occupier rhetoric against Romney. Character and honor matter. Santorum has it.
Of course, Santorum is not perfect. As I’ve said all along, every election cycle is a Pageant of the Imperfects. He lost his Senate re-election bid in 2006, an abysmal year for conservatives. He was a go-along, get-along Big Government Republican in the Bush era. He supported No Child Left Behind, the prescription drug benefit entitlement, steel tariffs, and earmarks and outraged us movement conservatives by endorsing RINO Arlen Specter over stalwart conservative Pat Toomey.
I have no illusions about Rick Santorum. I wish he were as rock-solid on core economic issues as Ron Paul.
And I wish Ron Paul was not the far-out, Alex Jones-panderer on foreign policy, defense, and national security that he is.
If Ron Paul talked more like his son, Rand Paul, about the need for common-sense profiling of jihadists at our State Department consular offices overseas and if he talked more about the need for strengthened visa screening and airport security scrutiny of international flight manifests, I might have more than a kernel of confidence that he would take post-9/11 precautions to guard against jihadi threats and protect us from our enemies foreign and domestic. But he doesn’t, so I can’t support Ron Paul.
Mitt Romney has the backing of many solid conservatives whom I will always hold in high esteem — including Kansas Secretary of State and immigration enforcement stalwart Kris Kobach, former U.N. ambassacor John Bolton, and GOP Govs. Nikki Haley and Bob McDonnell. With such conservative advisers in his camp, Romney would be better than Obama. And a GOP Congress with a staunch Tea Party-backed contingent of fresh-blood leaders in the House and Senate will help keep any GOP president in line. Romney’s private-sector experience and achievements are the best things he’s got going. Only recently has he risen to defend himself effectively. But between his health care debacle, eco-nitwittery, and expedient and unconvincing political metamorphosis, Mitt Romney had way too much ideological baggage for me in 2008 to earn an endorsement — and it still hasn’t changed for me in 2012.
Then there’s Newt, who has long made a career out of trashing progressive Saul Alinsky while employing his tactics at every turn. I’ve been making this point for years and have chronicled his dalliances with leftists as long as anyone in the conservative blogosphere.
Many grass-roots conservatives were awakened to Newt’s double-talk and double-dealing during the NY-23 race. Inconvenient truth: Newt’s transgressions are not from decades ago. It’s not ancient history. It’s here and now. Readers of this blog know the truth: It’s not just “the GOP establishment” that’s repulsed by Gingrich’s combination of moral baggage and K Street/Beltway culture of corruption. It’s the very grass-roots that Gingrich’s cheerleaders purport to represent.
Remember October 2009?
From reader Barnaby, who sent back his crossed-out Republican solicitation forms with a “NO RINOS” sticky note for Newt Gingrich:
Remember the rebuke in Dubuque? May 11, 2011:
Guy: Speaker Gingrich, what you just did to Paul Ryan is unforgivable.
Gingrich: I didn’t do anything to Paul Ryan!
Guy: Yes, you did. You undercut him and his allies in the house.
Gingrich: No, I…
Guy: You’re an embarrassment to our party.
Gingrich: I’m sorry you feel that way.
Guy: Why don’t you get out before you make a bigger fool of yourself.
Lest we forget, this election is not about choosing a showboat candidate to run against John King or Juan Williams or Wolf Blitzer.
It’s not about “raging against” some arbitrarily defined GOP “machine.”
For many grass-roots conservatives across the country, Romney and Gingrich are the machine.
And at this point in the game, Rick Santorum represents the most conservative candidate still standing who can articulate both fiscal and social conservative values — and live them.
***
Side note: Unlike many bloggers and pundits weighing in on GOP 2012, I have zero connections to any of the final four GOP candidates’ campaigns. I have neither received a single penny from, nor donated a single penny, to any of their campaigns. I have not served as any kind of consultant or adviser to any of the campaigns. I have not written any speeches or talking points or briefing papers for any of their campaigns. I have not organized any blogger calls or social media efforts for any of their campaigns. I have not spoken to Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich since interviewing them for Hot Air at CPAC in 2006, and as far as I can recall, I have not communicated directly with either Santorum or Paul. My first and only contact with Santorum’s campaign came last week when a spokesman called to assure me that Santorum was not withdrawing from the Florida primary or the race in general and was in it for the long haul.
So much for my “establishment” credentials, eh?

Santorum is headed to Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, and Nevada.
“The Rick Santorum for President Campaign will expand nationally this week with campaign stops in Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, and Nevada in the coming days,” a spokesman MAtt Beynon said in a statement.
Santorum is slated to make several stops in battleground states over the next few days, but did not appear to be heading back to Florida, where Republicans go to the polls on Tuesday.
Santorum is expected be in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday when the Florida results are known.
After winning Iowa — the first state to chose which Republican they want to face Obama in November — Santorum’s campaign has struggled to catch fire.
In Florida — a winner-takes-all race — the former senator has not appeared much and is barely avoiding a vote share in single digits according to polls, putting him in third place behing Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich.
Nevada will vote just four days after Florida, while Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri all vote on February 7th.
Santorum had put campaigning in Florida on hold Sunday, as his daughter, Bella, was hospitalized just days before a key primary vote.
Two days before Florida’s winner-takes-all primary, Santorum spent the day in Pennsylvania, where his three year-old was admitted to a Philadelphia children’s hospital.

It's an ugly situation. Short-term treasury yields are at practically zero, 5-year yields hit a new all-time low of 0.71%, and even 30-year yields dipped below 3%. Savings accounts, money market funds, and short-term CDs yield just about nothing. Yet inflation was 3% in 2011. LINK

Obama No Longer Believes Hiking the Debt Ceiling is Unpatriotic
Remember when then-Senator and candidate Barack Obama called George Bush irresponsible and unpatriotic for raising the debt ceiling? Well, he’s singing a different tune now that the national debt was raised to $16.4 trillion! By election day in November, that will mean every man, woman and child owes $50,000 toward the national debt. Keep in mind, that figure doesn’t count unfunded liabilities like Social Security, Medicare and public employee pensions. KEEP READING

Catholic Churches Across America Shared Anti-Obama Admin Letter with Parishioners
According to a recent report by Fox News, there are 65 million Catholics in the United States. They don’t all attend church regularly, but a recent national ad campaign may have increased the numbers a bit. If so, that’s bad news for Team Obama. According to Business Insider, thousands of parishes across the US read a letter condemning the Obama administration for its recent dictat on contraception.

GM wants more Bailout bucks- this time from States
How much bailing out does one company need? (The correct answer is none, of course) After receiving some $50 billion in tax dollars from us courtesy of Obama’s “cash stash,” GM is claiming success with a “Obama claimed that GM was “back on top as the world’s number one automaker.” But true or not, if all is coming up roses for GM why is the company now lobbying the individual states for mini bailouts? Democratic Party should be renamed the Bureaucrat Party
Democracy is a political system in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who elect people to represent them. That's why the Democratic Party should change its name, as it largely ignores the fundamental principle of democracy.
The Democratic Party does not respect the sovereignty of the people, preferring to transfer innumerable powers to bureaucracies stuffed with unelected officials. Hence, as Americans for Prosperity Vice President Phil Kerpen, has said, "the Democratic Party should be renamed the Bureaucratic Party."
Democrats stuff the government with endless layers of legislation, regulations, unfunded mandates and officious committees led by bureaucrats who consume billions of tax dollars without producing anything useful in return. Then the Democrats protect the bureaucrats from being accountable to the people.
Thus, the Democratic Party is not democratic at all. It is the bureaucratic party.

The Most Audacious Armed Robbery in History
The Democrats' 2009 Stimulus package was, in my estimation, the most audacious armed robbery in world history. Literally hundreds of billions of dollars were stolen from American taxpayers -- and generations yet unborn -- to reward Democrat campaign contributors.
Solyndra was only the most basic example of these crimes. In fact, though you wouldn't know it from reading the funny papers, a whole series of "green energy" companies are in varying stages of collapse. For the most recent example, please consider: "Another Stimulus-Backed Energy Company Files for Bankruptcy":

Santorum sets sights on Missouri
COTTLEVILLE, Mo. — Rick Santorum returned to the campaign trail here on Monday, stressing that he plans to make a mark in Missouri’s primary next week.
The former Pennsylvania senator told a crowd of 300 at a community college that Missouri voters this cycle will have “a big role to play” in choosing the GOP nominee.
“We need the bellwether state of Missouri to stand up and say, ‘We want a strong principled conservative, someone who understands the scale of change that’s needed in Washington, D.C.’” Santorum said.

Abortion Lobby Uses Obamacare Mandate to Attack Catholics
For those who live their lives under a cloud of moral relativism, right and wrong are often decided based on what makes them feel good or what is popular, not by an unbending set of principles. To such people, long held moral teachings can be confusing, and are often seen as artifacts of a bygone age.
So when organizations like the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute try to explain how Christian values are relevant to modern society they are not exactly on terra firma, and end up insulting the faithful in the process – just like they did this past week.
In a statement that celebrated the Obama administration’s attack on religious liberty, the Guttmacher Institute proclaimed that it’s the “norm” for Catholic women to defy their bishops and religious teaching on contraception, and seem amazed that the Catholic bishops would hold to the teachings of their faith in the face of such defiance.
