Barack Obama is risking interrogation by police in Sweden

08/10/13

Swedish MD Files Police Complaint Against Barack Obama

For war crimes and crimes against humanity.

STOCKHOLM (Rixstep) — Chief physician Gunnar Olofsson at Southern Älvsborg’s hospital in Borås Sweden has in Stockholm filed a police complaint against US president Barack Obama for war crimes and crimes against humanity, citing actions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Guantánamo, as well as the NSA use of PRISM and other invasive technologies. The complaint was filed 8 August 2013.

This could be a repeat of what happened to George W Bush who had to abort his book promotion tour before entering Switzerland where incarceration awaited him.

‘Firstly, it’s illegal to conduct war and occupation of foreign countries as he’s done in Afghanistan and Iraq’, says Olofsson. ‘It’s forbidden to lock people up without trial as he’s done in Guantánamo and other prisons in the world. And then it’s not at all uninteresting that it’s illegal to monitor and spy on Swedish citizens and citizens of the European Union. These are very serious crimes.’

Gunnar Olofsson filed the complaint yesterday with the police in Stockholm. He now hopes that the Swedish police will dare summon the US president for questioning, in accordance with international jurisprudence.

Gunnar Olofsson says that Barack Obama should be treated the same as anyone who comes to Sweden and is subject to a police complaint.

‘I’m counting on the fact that I as a Swedish citizen am able to influence the political agenda of my country and that my voice will be heard when I report a crime.’

Gunnar Olofsson believes that if the police want, they can pull in the US president for interrogation when he visits Sweden in September.

‘The problem is that they’d most likely not want to. But I really hope this police complaint will be taken seriously.’

Although it might not be possible to convict and incarcerate a head of state, Obama will lose that protection in 2017 and will thereafter be subject to the same judicial process as his predecessor who in Switzerland risked a war crimes conviction.

A Guide to Congressional Townhall Meetings in August Previous

08/10/13

Photo/FreedomWorks.org

With Congress in recess for the month of August, are you wondering if your representative is holding a Townhall? Matt Kibbe of Freedomworks.org has provided the tools for you to find out. His website, DemandATownhall.com, has a guide for sourcing the phone numbers of your Congressional representatives to ask if he or she is holding a Townhall meeting.

If the answer is yes, Freedomworks asks that you add it to the calendar on their website. If your representative is not planning on a Townhall, demand a Townhall by contacting FreedomWorks on their site “to see how you can get involved to host a Townhall—with or without—their participation.”

As Kibbe says, “It’s our right to be heard by the people we elected to represent us, and we need to know if our legislators are doing everything they can to defund ObamaCare (among other issues.) If no Townhall is scheduled, Kibbe asks, “Why are you silencing the voices of the people who pay your salary? Why are you siding with Washington over the rest of America by refusing to engage your constituents?”

Two Secure Email Services Close Due to US Government Spying

08/10/13
By Marty Duren , CP Op-Ed Contributor

Callas goes on to warn about email
as a secure communication method:
Writes Ladar Levinson owner and founder of Lavabit on the Lavabit blog:

"My Fellow Users, I have been forced to make a difficult decision: to become complicit in crimes against the American people or walk away from nearly ten years of hard work by shutting down Lavabit. After significant soul searching, I have decided to suspend operations. I wish that I could legally share with you the events that led to my decision. I cannot. I feel you deserve to know what's going on–the first amendment is supposed to guarantee me the freedom to speak out in situations like this. Unfortunately, Congress has passed laws that say otherwise. As things currently stand, I cannot share my experiences over the last six weeks, even though I have twice made the appropriate requests."

Lavabit was reportedly the email service of choice for NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Then there is this post from Jon Callas of Silent Circle, the "Global Encrypted Communications Service":

"Today, another secure email provider, Lavabit, shut down their system lest they 'be complicit in crimes against the American people.' We see the writing the wall, and we have decided that it is best for us to shut down Silent Mail now. We have not received subpoenas, warrants, security letters, or anything else by any government, and this is why we are acting now."

"Email that uses standard Internet protocols cannot have the same security guarantees that real-time communications has. There are far too many leaks of information and metadata intrinsically in the email protocols themselves. Email as we know it with SMTP, POP3, and IMAP cannot be secure."

Not only does the U.S. government actively collect data from the private communications of its citizens (aka, "spying"), we make it easy when we use email.

U.S. citizens have little by way of opportunity to access fully secure, end-to-end encrypted email that is not subject to U.S. national security laws. This article at NetworkWorld, now two years old, demonstrates the difficulty of finding such a service and, in fact, predicted the situation Lavabit now endures. That the U.S. government seems to be exploiting the pro-privacy Tor browser is an indication of how far it will go to eliminate private communications altogether.

In short, never, ever, ever, ever, ever send by email anything you do not want read by prying eyes.

'Obama-approved Morsi supporters' kill 10-year-old girl leaving Sunday School

08/10/13

Church Pastor's Niece, 10, Gunned Down Leaving Sunday School Class, Dozens Injured as Attacks Against Egypt's Christians Continue

An horrific attack has taken place against Egypt's Christian Coptic community, after several unidentified individuals indiscriminately opened fire in front of the Evangelical church in Ain Shams, a suburb of Cairo, killing Jessi Paulis Issa, 10, and injuring dozens of Copts.

According to reports, Issa was the niece of the church's pastor. After the killing, Issa's young body was transferred to the Cairo forensics team as the Copt community were left to mourn the latest horrendous attack against them.

"Bearded men belonging to Morsi's supporters opened fire on the citizens as they were exiting from the church," one witness described. "They fled the scene in a pick-up truck."

Pastor Nasrallah Zakaria told Mideast Christian News that the funeral prayers for his niece, Jessi Paulis, would be held this week in the church, after her autopsy is performed. He has described that his niece, Jessi, was leaving her Sunday school class at the church when she was gunned down.

The pastor said he does not know why Copts are being targeted throughout Egypt and called on the government to urgently help to bring a halt to the violence against Christians and the daily threats against them.

He added that the Copts are being used as a winning card to achieve political gains.

Government Media Complex Enjoys a Scam of it's Own: Taxpayers Are Forced to Subsidize Ohio’s “Legitimate” Press

08/10/13

Self-selecting liberal press corps gets special perks

Ohio’s Statehouse press corps, technically known as the Ohio Legislative Correspondents Association (OLCA), receives privileges denied to the citizens forced to foot the bill. The State charges OLCA no rent for the press room at the Ohio Statehouse, and OLCA decides who can access the House and Senate floors.

As OLCA explains on its website, the quasi-governmental body “functions independently to ensure only legitimate reporters are granted floor privileges in the House of Representatives and Senate.”

Not only do “legitimate” reporters have special access in the Ohio Statehouse, they are served by a Senate press clerk paid $42,037 in taxpayer money each year.

Teacher Makes $4 Million Dollars a Year

08/10/13

How the free market works for education

In this past weekend’s Wall Street Journal, journalist and author Amanda Ripley, profiled a teacher in South Korea who makes $4 million a year. Yes … $4 million. His name is Kim Ki-Hoon and he teaches in one of South Korea’s private, after-school tutoring academies called “hagwons” where his lectures are videotaped then available for purchase on the internet. Mr. Ki-Hoon is paid according to his demand (which, evidently, is pretty high) in what Ms. Ripley calls “a free market for teaching talent.”

Obama's Proposals for NSA Reform Are Mostly for Show

08/10/13

Barack Obama held one of his first press conference since the whole NSA spying thing blew up. As in the past, he says he welcomes debate, though he hasn't really taken any steps towards it, and believes more transparency is needed. But he still thinks Edward Snowden is not a patriot.

Obama argued that those fighting for greater transparency were patriots, but Snowden wasn't one of them.

What's more, the president is sure that this entire discussion about the NSA abuses would have happened without Snowden, this despite the five years during which his administration did everything in its power to block any discussion.

Now, Obama is proposing several measures that he believes will help with transparency. For one, he wants a reform of the Patriot Act, specifically the section that enables the broad NSA spying.

Whether this reform will in any way change NSA's actions remains to be seen, Obama was vague on the details. So far though, the spy agency has used interpretations of all the laws governing it that go far beyond what the Congress intended.

Along with the reform, Obama is also proposing that, in some cases, NSA requests before the secret FISA court be argued against by a public advocate.

Now, there is no one opposing the NSA's requests, judges either approve or deny them based on the NSA's arguments. To date, only 0.03 percent of requests have been denied.

If done right, this could make it harder for the NSA to get the broad warrants it gets now, though it all depends on the implementation.

A third measure proposed by Obama is a website which would list what the NSA can and can't collect from Americans and foreigners alike.

Considering the many times the NSA and the administration have lied about spy programs, including Obama just a couple of days ago, when he said no Americans are being spied upon, there's little reason to believe that this website will be anything more than a joke.

Finally, Obama is proposing the creation of an independent agency which would review the US intelligence apparatus and report on it. All of this seems too little too late and that's assuming that any of it actually gets implemented, but it's probably the best we can hope for from the US government at this point.

A New Hampshire mother has been banned from praying at her kids' high school.

Lizarda Urena has two children enrolled at Concord High School in Concord, N.H.

She started praying on school grounds in 2011 after two bullets were found in a restroom at the school. Urena said she prayed aloud as students entered the school every morning.

She was recently told by school officials that the prayers were not welcome after someone filed a complaint with the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

"They told me, no, no more," the mother of two said, with tears in her eyes. "I stand up, lift my hands to praise the Lord with my Bible holding and sometimes kneeling."

Urena said said she will continue to pray for the school, just no longer on school grounds.

Texas Bank Robbers Become Victims When They Kidnap The Wrong Couple One Dead Other Critical.

08/09/13

Two bank robbery suspects were shot in Colorado County Thursday night by a man who said they kidnapped him and his wife, a bank employee. According to the Colorado County Sheriff's Office, the couple had been held at gunpoint by the suspects inside their home just north of Columbus. They were then forced to drive to the First National Bank of Eagle Lake in Columbus. The suspects then forced the woman to take out an undisclosed amount of funds, investigators said.
"We believe they had knowledge that she was an employee of the bank for them to be at the residence and to take her back," Sgt. Andrew Weido with the Columbus County Sheriff's Office said. He said the suspects then forced the husband to drive them in his truck south down Highway 71, and that's when the husband of the bank employee was able to gain access to a firearm inside the vehicle. He fired at the suspects near County Road 101. Authorities then responded to a 911 call from the scene at 7:30 p.m. with the Columbus Police Department arriving first. When they arrived, officers found the two suspects with gunshot wounds lying on the ground near a pickup that was parked in a ditch.
One of the wounded, 20-year-old Jordan Kutach, was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition. The other, 21-year-old Preston Kutach, was taken by EMS to the Columbus Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Both suspects lived in the community of Rock Island and neighbors said they were brothers. The bank's president, Sam Kana, tells KHOU 11 News he is thankful and blessed that the couple was not hurt.
Those who know them said the husband is a reserve officer with the sheriff's department and that the community has their back. "I'm sure that they're both going to be upset for awhile," resident Brenda Buehler said. "It's a frightening thing to have happen, but I think everybody's going to tell them good job." "It's very positive to a community to hear that the good guy does win in the end," resident Evan Mullins said. "It could have turned out so much worse," store owner Debbie Damon said. Investigators said the couple did not know their attackers, and it is unclear how they became targets. They are not releasing their names, or surveillance video, which they said captures some of the crime still in progress.

'Woody' running for Lancaster mayor

John "Woody" Chandler
The November ballot gives Lancaster city voters a choice between two well-known mayoral candidates.

Mayor Rick Gray, a Democrat, is seeking a third term in City Hall. Charlie Smithgall, a Republican, is seeking a return to the mayor's office he occupied from 1998-2006.

But what about voters not enamored by either man or the major parties?

John "Woody" Chandler is there for you.

Chandler, a J.P. McCaskey High School English teacher, is waging a "punk-rock, do-it-yourself" write-in campaign for mayor.

His name will not appear on the ballot. The deadline for third-party candidates to be included was last week.

Pete Ruggieri, who had earlier announced plans to run for mayor, also allowed the deadline to pass without filing to be included. Ruggieri is not campaigning as a write-in candidate, he said.

Chandler, however, is asking friends, neighbors and strangers to write-in his name.

His low-tech campaign involves a bed-sheet sign hung from the front porch of his North Queen Street home and a Facebook page.

He said it's working.

"People have been coming up to me randomly and telling me that either they are planning to vote for me or they are spreading the word about the campaign," said Chandler, 48.

Chandler, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Persian Gulf War, believes he will appeal to city residents who feel left out of the political process or left behind by changes the city has undergone.

If elected, Chandler proposes raising city revenue through unconventional means. He would legalize and tax marijuana sales and establish a city brothel.

He acknowledges those ideas may seem far-fetched — and are illegal under state and federal law — but he believes they may appeal to some voters.

"Not necessarily better just different," he said of a Chandler administration.

Chandler is a 1983 McCaskey graduate. He returned to Lancaster permanently in 2003 after 15 years in the Navy and completing bachelors and masters degrees at the University of Pittsburgh.

He remained a Democrat in order to vote in May primary. Then, he learned the deadline had passed for him to switch parties and run as an independent in November, he said.

n Ruggieri maintains an active website and Facebook page for his mayoral campaign, although he announced in January that he was suspending his bid.

"When I felt there was going to be a brand new candidate on both the Democratic and Republican tickets, I felt I had a strong chance to win as a third-party candidate," Ruggieri wrote in an e-mailed statement.

"However, with a fairly popular mayor seeking a third term I felt that my chances of winning were diminished, and I didn't want to solicit donations if I felt I wasn't going to win.

"Hopefully, in 2017, both Mayors Gray and Smithgall will be interested in civilian life and myself, a new Democrat and a new Republican can start on even footing," he said.

Jihadis Move From Facebook To Yahoo's Flickr Picture Sharing Site – Uploading Images Of Martyrs, Including Foreign Fighters Killed In Syria From U.S., U.K., France, Australia, Spain

08/08/13

As part of their online media strategy, jihadi groups have in recent years begun using Western websites and technologies – uploading videos to YouTube and to the Internet Archive, creating official Facebook pages, tweeting news flashes from the jihadi fronts, and most recently posting images on Instagram. Jihadis have come to depend on free web hosting, where content can be uploaded anonymously, reliably, and at no cost.

The use of social media in the current conflict in Syria highlights the global jihad movement's total dependence on the Internet and on U.S.-based social media companies. For example, Skype is now being used by one jihadi group, the Al-Haq Brigade (part of the Syrian Islamic Front) to help recruit new trainees for its Al-Ansar Battalion training camp, and a large number of jihadis who have gone to Syria use Facebook, YouTube and Twitter to communicate, plan attacks, fundraise and keep in touch with family and friends.

The Tea Party’s RINO Hunting Season Opens With a Bang

Conservative group targets Mitch McConnell

The Madison Project considers McConnell a chicken

You may have missed the news, but Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell now has a carefully-vetted Tea Party-chosen opponent in the 2014 Republican primary, Matt Bevin.

The national conservative group Madison Project has endorsed Matt Bevin in what they have determined to be one of the most important yet winnable races of 2014.

“If there is one individual who represents the GOP establishment, it is Mitch McConnell,” said Daniel Horowitz, Policy Director for the Madison Project PAC. “The battle over Obamacare is shaping up to be the Waterloo for the GOP establishment… [McConnell] is too chicken to even sign onto Mike Lee’s letter pledging to defund Obamacare in any battle over the budget.”

Constitutional Republican voters across the country see McConnell as one of the key enabler s of the “Gang of RINOs” that repeatedly rush out to compromise with Democrats, consistently delivering comprehensive legislative monstrosities like Obamacare, the Gang-of-8 Amnesty Bill, and the deceptively named Farm Bill.

Tea Party members are concerned that McConnell, via his gangs, has actually co-sponsored bills that were supported by the Congressional Progressive Caucus, a group of 80 congressmen with ties to Communist Party USA and the Democratic Socialists of America.

Trevor Loudon in his new bookThe Enemies Within: Communists, Socialists, and Progressives in the U.S. Congress” provides factual evidence that makes it clear that the US Constitution is at risk everyday with each new progressive bill that goes unchallenged by GOP leadership.

Constitutional Republicans see that RINO’s can no longer be tolerated. They believe that it is time to see who actually votes to Defund Obamacare.

For them, it’s time to nationally support Matt Bevin and the next “gang of Ted-Cruz-and-Jim-DeMint-like Tigers” who will aggressively get out in front of issues easily articulating the constitutional principles that apply.

The Madison Project believes it will take tigers, not RINOs and Chickens, to save America. In the Kentucky Senate primary, we’ll see if the voters agree.

As Corkins told the FBI after his arrest, he learned of the FRC online, “It was a, uh, Southern Poverty Law, lists, anti-gay groups. I found them online. I did a little bit of research, went to the website, stuff like that.”

Two different conservative organizations with whom we’ve got contacts have received letters from Sen. Dick Durbin’s office today which look an awful lot like the actions that precipitated the IRS scandal. Apparently there’s a massive fishing expedition afoot.

First off, I welcome President Barack Obama’s call to shutter mortgage giants (and giant pains in the public arse) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Many conservatives and libertarians have been beating that drum since 2008 and before, back when Obama was voting present on regulation of Fannie/Freddie and taking more in donations from them than all but one lawmaker.

Obama says that he would like to see more Americans die in terrorist attacks

08/07/13

That headline is not a lie. The greatest orator since Abraham Lincoln had a serious policy discussion with . . . wait for it . . . Jay Leno. During that serious, I mean really serious, talk, Obama explicitly stated that it was unfortunate that Americans were less likely to die in a terrorist attack than in a car accident. Really:

POTUS said the U.S. was not overreacting.

POTUS said people can still take vacation, just do so in a “prudent way” by checking on the State Department Websites for up-to-day information before making plans.

“The odds of dying in a terrorist attack are a lot lower than they are of dying in a car accident, unfortunately.” (Emphasis added.)

In other words, Republican Leaders have agreed the NRSC will not use this issue to put Democrats in a difficult re-election position in 2014, because Republican leaders do not intend to fight it and don’t want a spotlight on them doing so.

Keystone: 2.5 Construction Jobs Per Mile?

08/06/13

The president constructs another lie on behalf of government greed.

Last week President Obama solidified his growing opposition to the Keystone Pipeline by asserting that the long-delayed project would only be producing “about 2,000 construction jobs and maybe 150 permanent jobs.”

Think about that a minute. The section of the pipeline that remains to be built from Alberta to Steele City, Nebraska is 835 miles long. Does President Obama really think this monumental edifice is going to be built by 2-1/2 construction workers per mile? Compare that to the fifteen employees of the Department of Public Works — half of them sipping coffee — who take three weeks to repair 100 yards of pavement on the local highway.

DEA Surveillance: Turning Citizens Into Criminals

08/06/13

Surveillance Society: The government says spying on U.S. citizens is acceptable since it's merely a means of fighting foreign terrorists. But what if the government used espionage in investigations of common criminals?

It seems that's really happening. According to a Reuters exclusive, "A secretive U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) unit is funneling information from intelligence intercepts, wiretaps, informants and a massive database of telephone records to authorities across the nation to help them launch criminal investigations of Americans."

The program is so sneaky that officials are trying to cover it up. "Law enforcement agents," says Reuters, "have been directed to conceal how such investigations truly begin — not only from defense lawyers, but also sometimes from prosecutors and judges."

This strikes us as a violation of the 4th Amendment rights for which Americans fought, bled and died.

Grandmother Charged With Murder Of Child After Using Methadone On His Gums

08/06/13

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A Baltimore woman is charged with murder after police say she gave a powerful drug to her two grandchildren.

Monique Griego has more on this disturbing case.

Both of the children were toddlers. Police say their grandmother gave them methadone because she wanted them to go to sleep.

Towanda Reaves, 50, stands accused of murder and child abuse. Baltimore police say she gave her grandchildren, ages one and two, methadone–a powerful narcotic.

The 2-year-old little boy, identified as Aadyn Overton, died of an overdose.

“I didn’t know what had happened at first when the baby had died. I said, ‘Oh my God, he was just out here playing,’” a neighbor said.

Police say it happened on the Fourth of July while the kids were visiting Reaves at her apartment on North Forest Park Avenue.

Neighbors tell WJZ they thought the kids were exposed by accident. But police say Reaves admitted she gave it to them so they would go to sleep.

“She confirmed that she had given methadone to the children and put it on the gum lines of their mouths,” said Det. Jeremy Silbert, Baltimore City Police.

Methadone is given to addicts to help them detox from drugs like heroin. It can also sometimes be prescribed as a painkiller.

“It would definitely kill them. It’s potent. A very strong mixture. It would kill some adults,” said Darryl Jordan, neighbor.

Those who knew Reaves are shocked by what happened. By all accounts, they say she was a doting grandmother.

“She really took care of them. As far as I can see, she wasn’t a bad person,” a woman said.

The 1-year-old little girl was taken to the hospital, but was later released and is expected to be OK.

Neighbors are now left wondering how Reaves could do something so dangerous.

“As a grandmother myself, I just can’t imagine it. I just can’t imagine,” a woman said.

Reaves is facing several charges, including second-degree murder and child abuse.

Neighbors tell WJZ the children were visiting and didn’t live in the home.

President Hopes To Rectify Embarrassing Situation Without The Law Amended

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The Obama administration is out to fix a major snafu with its signature accomplishment, Obamacare.

The problem affects members of Congress and the people who work for them.

But some complain the proposed fix is both illegal, and unfair, CBS 2’s Tony Aiello reported Monday.

Critics said it’s an example of how Washington ignores rules everyone else must follow, and how in the rush to pass Obamacare, even members of Congress didn’t realize what was in it.

“There’s a lot of concern that Congress is making up the rules as they go along for themselves,” Manhattan Institute healthcare expert Avik Roy told CBS 2’s Aiello.

Roy said it was a pretty big “oops.”

When a bitterly divided Congress approved Obamacare it agreed that representatives, senators and thousands of staffers would drop their private insurance and move into the new Obamacare insurance exchanges.

The private insurance was heavily subsidized by taxpayers, but Obamacare doesn’t allow for subsidies for people making the six-figure salaries that are common on Capitol Hill.

So all those Washington insiders could have been forced to pay up to $10,000 out-of-pocket.

“This was a big crisis for Congress because congressman and their staffs were going to lose their health benefits,” Roy said.

But just before members left Washington for the August recess the president himself promised to fix the issue.

“Look, the administration and the leaders are working on that. I don’t know the details,” Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-Brooklyn) said.

Well, the details are raising eyebrows. Instead of asking Congress to amend the law, the Obama administration wants to order a government agency called OPM to just pay for congressional workers’ Obamacare subsidies.

But at least one analysis has found, “OPM does not have the legal authority to do this. So there’s some controversy. Some people say there really needs to be a legislative fix. You have to have an act of Congress passed to fix this problem,” Roy said.

But the president doesn’t want Congress “fixing” Obamacare, fearing they’ll make other changes.

The question now is whether opponents will challenge this move in court.

Left Wing Violence Update: Three dead when bullets fly at Pa. municipal meeting

08/06/13

Emergency crews respond to a reported shooting at the Ross Township building, Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 in Saylorsburg, Pa. / AP Photo/Chris Post
SAYLORSBURG, Pa. A gunman blasted shots through the wall of a municipal building during a meeting on Monday and then barged into the room and continued firing, killing three people, before he was tackled by a local official and shot with his own gun, a witness said.

The shooting, which also injured three people, happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. during Ross Township's regular monthly meeting, Monroe County emergency management director Guy Miller said. The gunman, who appeared to be "shooting randomly," was captured and was in state police custody at a local hospital, which was placed on lockdown, he said.

State police in Lehighton confirmed the gunman had been captured but didn't immediately have details on the arrest.

The Pocono Record said one of its reporters was in the township building and a gunman armed with a pistol with a scope shot through a wall into the meeting, in a rural area of northeastern Pennsylvania about 85 miles north of Philadelphia.

Lib Dems: ban petrol and diesel cars from UK roads by 2040

08/06/13

The Liberal Democrats want to ban millions of ordinary cars from Britain’s roads.

Nick Clegg’s party has unveiled proposals to only allow ultra-low carbon vehicles on UK roads by 2040.

The controversial measures would mean millions of petrol and diesel cars being forbidden.

Only electric vehicles and ultra-efficient hybrid cars would be allowed on UK roads under the Lib Dem plans.

However, petrol and diesel vehicles would still be allowed for freight purposes.

The plans will be voted on by members at the upcoming Lib Dem conference in Glasgow and could become party policy if approved.

Pay-up time for Brawley: '87 rape-hoaxer finally shells out for slander

08/05/13

Just $431,000 to go

OUTRAGE: Tawana Brawley attends an Atlanta rally
with Al Sharpton in 1988, three months before a jury
would rule that her rape tale was a hoax. She had
been lying low until The Post last December
found her living in Virginia.
Twenty-five years after accusing an innocent man of rape, Tawana Brawley is finally paying for her lies.

Last week, 10 checks totaling $3,764.61 were delivered to ex-prosecutor Steven Pagones — the first payments Brawley has made since a court determined in 1998 that she defamed him with her vicious hoax.

A Virginia court this year ordered the money garnisheed from six months of Brawley’s wages as a nurse there.

She still owes Pagones $431,000 in damages. And she remains defiantly unapologetic.

“It’s a long time coming,” said Pagones, 52, who to this day is more interested in extracting a confession from Brawley than cash.
