AWESOME: Film Claiming Obama's Mother Once Posed for Pornographic Pictures Sent to a MILLION swing voters

Sssssslow news media acts shocked at info most of us knew a year ago. And their response? Make accusations claiming the Tea Party did it, of course!
Nice to see the seeds of greatness finally being exposed as it's true composition, the seeds of evil... Facts really do suck, don't they? Absolutely brilliant!!

Now it's getting REALLY dirty: Outrageous film claiming Obama's mother once posed for pornographic pictures is sent to a MILLION swing voters

The film claims that Mr Obama's real father is left wing poet and Communist party activist, Frank Marshall Davis

100,000 copies of the DVD, containing extraordinary claims, have already been mailed to voters in Ohio with up to three million more planned to go out

As Mitt Romney lags in the polls the material could be potentially damaging for the Obama campaign

It has already won the support of Alabama's Republican Party chairman Bill Armistead

Democrat consultant Steve Murphy called the accusations 'low' and motivated by race and money

More than a million voters in swing states are being sent an anti-Obama documentary that claims the President's mother once posed for pornographic photos wearing bondage gear.

The shocking - and totally unfounded - claims made in the DVD represent a new low in the election dirty tricks war today provoking fury among Democrats and likely to trigger outrage in the White House.

'Dreams From My Real Father', made by a right-wing film-maker who is a long-time critic of Obama, includes images of a woman it claims is the President's mother Ann Dunham clad in leather gloves, boots and a corset posing seductively on a couch.

The film also alleges that Mr Obama's real father is left wing poet poet and Communist party activist Frank Marshall Davis, and that Ms Dunham's marriage was a 'sham' to cover this up.

Accusations: An outrageous video is alleging that President Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, starred in pornographic photo shoots and that his real father is really Communist activist Frank Marshall Davis (right)
Porn star: 'Dreams From My Real Father' the DVD includes images of a woman its maker says is Ann Dunham, clad in leather gloves, boots and a corset posing seductively on a couch
The extraordinary claims are the latest twist in the debunked 'birther' conspiracy which has raised questions over Mr Obama's past.

But they could have serious consequences as more than one million copies have been mailed to voters in Ohio, a key swing state where Mitt Romney is lagging in the polls.

Some 100,000 copies have also been sent to voters in Nevada and the same number to New Hampshire - with up to three million more still to come.

It has even won the support of Alabama's Republican Party chairman Bill Armistead who has said: 'That (the film) is absolutely frightening. I've seen it. I verified that it is factual, all of it. People can determine.'

Argument: Tea Party members are suspected to be behind the funding of the DVD made by Joel Gilbert and research that went into the website

But Democrat consultant Steve Murphy said today: 'It's about the lowest thing you can do to accuse, with no evidence, the opposition candidate's mother of being a porn star.

'There are two motives behind this - racism and money. It's a cynical attempt to make some coin and exploit the views of the fringes of mainstream views.'

'Dreams From My Real Father' claims that the President's family history is an elaborate lie.

The real story is that his mother's marriage to Barack Obama Sr was a sham to cover up her affair with Mr Davis, who Mr Obama has referred to as his 'mentor'.

Mr Davis supposedly photographed Ms Dunham whilst she was pregnant with Mr Obama and sold the photos to 1950s magazines with titles like 'Bizarre Life', 'Exotique', and 'Secret Pleasures'.

Claims: A website for the DVD entitled, Dreams from My Real Father, compares photographs of a young Mr Davis with Barack Obama's high school photographs presenting them as similar

Like father like son? Mr Gilbert's DVD claims that Ann Dunham's marriage to Barack Obama Sr is a 'sham' to cover up her affair with Mr Davis (right)
In one the woman - there is no proof offered that she is Ms Dunham - is posing wearing the corset, gaudy earrings and a large necklace with her hair cut short.

In another photo she sits on a couch staring into the camera and in the other she is putting on an elbow length black leather glove.

In a third she is reclining on the couch with her buttocks clearly visible and in others she is naked apart from a pair of high heels.

In the film, a narrator who is supposed to be Mr Obama says: 'These photos were taken a few weeks before 1960, when mom was about five weeks pregnant with me.

'Frank then sold the photos to men's mail-order catalogues.'

Obama's real mother: 100,000 copies of the video directed by Joe Gilbert were mailed to voters in Ohio claiming that Ann Dunham (front, right)) is not the virtuous woman Mr Obama purports her to be
The film also claims that Mr Obama’s grandfather was not a furniture salesman but actually a CIA agent.

The 'Barack Obama' narrator says: 'My election was not a sudden political phenomenon.

'It was the culmination of an American socialist movement that my real father, Frank Marshall Davis, nurtured in Chicago and Hawaii, and has been quietly infiltrating the US economy, universities, and media for decades.'

According to the film Mr Obama made regular visits to Mr Davis from the age of 10 where he was 'indoctrinated in Marxism during his formative years'.

The movie's director Joel Gilbert said the documentary was the result of two years of research but he is already facing allegations it is a dirty tricks campaign.

Speaking to MailOnline Mr Gilbert claimed that he matched up Ms Dunham to the pornographic pictures by comparing them to her high school photographs at the time.

He and 'other researchers' made the connection but he did not employ a photography expert.

Mr Gilbert said: 'Her teeth matched, her nose matched, everything matched. It's obvious.

'People don’t want to hear this because there is a mass hysteria around President Obama.

'Nobody wants to hear about the gap between what he says and what he wants to do.'

Mr Gilbert also declined to discuss who had paid for the film and would only reveal it was 'privately funded'.

There is already speculation that Tea Party groups may have been behind it.

Mr Gilbert has been unapologetic about his film and said that he investigated the President because he thought he had a 'passion for class struggle that did not fit with his background'.

He has said that he turned up 'convincing evidence that Ann Dunham had an intimate relationship with Mr Davis' including '30 photos of her in various compromising states of nudity'.

Mr Gilbert said: 'Right away I could see that Davis has a striking resemblance to Obama while the Kenyan Obama looked nothing like him.

Target: Since he took office in 2008, Mr Obama has been at the centre of many right wing theories about his background and nationality including one that suggested he might be an alien
'Davis was not only the biological father of Barack Obama but also the ideological father.

'I've concluded that the people who were asking: "Where's the birth certificate?" were asking the wrong question. The real question: "Who's the father?"'

In his memoirs Mr Obama has written how his mother, who was from Wichita, Kansas, met his Kenyan-born father whilst they were both studying Russian at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu.

They married in February 1961 but in August of that year she moved to Seattle to study at the University of Washington.

Reputation: Joel Gilbert is a Los Angeles based filmmaker known for his rabble-rousing style with films like 'Atomic Jihad: Ahmadinejad's Coming War for Islamic Revival and Obama's Politics of Defeat'
Mr Obama was born on August 4 in Honolulu before she left.

His long form birth certificate lists a 25-year-old student called 'Barack Hussein Obama' as his dad, referring to his father.
Mr Obama Sr is said to have finished his economics degree in Hawaii then studied at Harvard before moving back to Kenya in 1964, the year he and Ms Dunham divorced.

In a separate development the director of the anti-Obama film 2016, which has become a surprise box office hit, has made lurid claims similar to Mr Gilbert's about Ms Dunham in his book: 'Obama’s America'.

In the book, which reached no.1 on the New York Times bestseller list, Dinesh D'Souza alleges that she sent her son to Hawaii just so she could cheat on his father with Indonesian men.

According to extracts of the book on the Daily Beast: 'Ann's sexual adventuring may seem a little surprising in view of the fact that she was a large woman who kept getting larger.

'Learning about Ann's sexual adventures in Indonesia, I realized how wrong I had been to consider Barack Obama Sr. the playboy … Ann … was the real playgirl, and despite all her reservations about power, she was using her American background and economic and social power to purchase the romantic attention of third-world men.'

Since taking office Mr Obama has been the subject of a number of bizarre claims about his past.

Right wing bloggers have claimed that the 'scar' on his head was evidence he had undergone some kind of secret surgery.

They suggested it could be anything from a routine procedure to the work of extra-terrestrials.

The birther movement, which was championed by real estate mogul Donald Trump, said that as the President was not from Hawaii it meant he was not eligible to be in the White House.

When Mr Obama released the long form of his birth certificate the issue finally went away.

The issue of Mr Obama’s religion is another point of attack and despite publicly proclaiming his Christian beliefs, some still believe he is a Muslim.

Obama-Endorsed Egyptian President Morsi: ‘I Will Do Everything in My Power to Secure Freedom’ For the Blind Sheikh

Just weeks after TheBlaze’s exclusive report that claimed the U.S. State Department was “actively considering” transferring Omar Abdel-Rahman, or the “Blind Sheikh” to Egypt, Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi publicly called on the U.S. to allow the convicted terrorist to serve out the rest of his sentence at home in Egypt, state media reported on Thursday, according to AFP.

“I will do everything in my power to secure freedom for… detainees, including Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman,” Morsi said.

“What I want is to intervene for humanitarian reasons, not to interfere in a court ruling,” Morsi reportedly told members of the Egyptian community in New York while he was in the U.S. for the UN General Assembly.

The Blind Sheikh was sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, plotting to bomb other New York sites and plotting to assassinate former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

“We want his family to be allowed to visit him and to serve his sentence in Egypt as part of a prisoner swap between Egypt and the United States,” Morsi said, according to the official MENA news agency.

‘Killing Is The Solution,’ Gang Member Tells Walter Jacobson

CHICAGO (CBS) — Gangbangers in Chicago: What makes them tick, what are they thinking?

CBS 2’s Walter Jacobson sat down with gang members in Chicago’s troubled Englewood neighborhood to try to find some answers.

Some of the responses he received were not encouraging.

“There’s no solution to the violence,” one gang member tells him. “Killing, killing is the solution.”

Jacobson asked the young man if he would kill personally, if he had to.

“I’ve never killed before, but if I had a gun in my possession,” he said.

Jacobson says he has been walking the blocks for many years, but the state of despair never changes – poverty, sticks and stains.

The gang members do not like the state of affairs any more than anyone else.

“We’ve got to eat. We want to. We want money. We want to get fresh, we want fresh eggs almost every day. We want all that,” another young man said.

But where do they get the money they need? The young man answered bluntly.

“Rob, steal and kill. That’s the only way. We didn’t grow up in Beverly Hills. We don’t get it handed to us,” he said.

“We ain’t living in Hyde Park,” added a third young man. The home of the University of Chicago is only a couple of miles away from Englewood – geographically, at least.

But given the state of their impoverished Englewood neighborhood, where is the money they can get?

“Selling drugs,” a young man replied. “In our neighborhood, I ain’t going to lie to you. That’s where the money comes from.”

Some of the young men were brought into gangs as children. Isn’t that pretty young to play gang warfare?

A young man answered: “I chose the gang. I didn’t have to choose anything. I was only 10. My OG (old gangster) gave me everything. But I just went on my own and I chose to get in the gang. We was whipping everybody in the neighborhood. Respect. I was getting money.”

The gang members also said they are at war with the Chicago Police Department.

“The police hate us,” a young man said. “Every time they ride past us, they shoot us down and do all that. Do what you want to do, I don’t care about you all, keep riding. Who are you all? We’re not scare of you all. I’ll fight you too. Take that badge off.”

But he says the police cannot catch them or exact any consequences.

“I laugh at the police,” he said. “They’re a joke to me.”

And where would the young men like to be in 10 years?

One of them replied, “in a mansion, with a lot of cars, and a lot of women.”

Another said, “I just hope I’m still living.”

Barter Solutions - The Gold Alternative

Friday, September 28, 2012

While precious metals such as gold and silver make an excellent choice as a hedge against inflation or the devaluation of the dollar, they can be extremely hard to spend. Quite often bartering will become the alternative to cash which may have little or no value. There is where the law of supply and demand comes into effect.

There may be a significant supply of cash for which there is no demand because it no longer has value. In a situation such as this, cash money will have little or no value for the purchase of goods which you may be need. Gold or silver may not be the best barter item simply because of its greater value which will far exceed the worth of most items that may be required.

A gold coin that is worth in excess of a thousand dollars will be hard to break down into a smaller quantity for bartering. Unless you intend to significantly pay in excess of an item’s value, you will need something with a smaller denomination that is easily traded and that has significant and easily recognized value. Enter 22LR ammunition as a possible solution to this problem.

One of the most popular calibers of ammunition is 22LR. Even people who are not big fans of firearms will quite often own a 22LR pistol or rifle. This means that the possible demand for 22LR ammunition may well exceed the supply. Now 22LR ammunition can function well in a barter environment of this type. It’s well suited to trade for items with less value but can also work for items with greater value. It’s small in comparison with other calibers and is probably the least expensive ammunition you can purchase but will have a greater and immediate value in a barter situation if the dollar collapses.

It’s going to be a lot easier to trade four or five rounds of 22LR ammunition for a bag of flour than a piece of gold or silver.

Got gold alternative?

Up to 500,000 people have to share one out-of-hours GP

Coming to a country near you! Government quality health care on display...

As many as half a million people are having to share just one out-of-hours GP in some parts of England following budget cuts by health authorities, figures show.

Up to 500,000 people are having to share one out-of-hours GP Photo: ALAMY

By Rosa Silverman

8:00AM BST 29 Sep 2012

A third of primary care trusts (PCTs) have reduced their spending on night and weekend services in the past year, leaving family doctors responsible for areas spanning hundreds of square miles.

In Cornwall there have been occasions when one GP has been providing cover for 535,000 people, while in Mid Essex one doctor is available for 370,000 people between 7pm and 8am.

After getting rid of one of its two doctors, North East Essex has the same cover for its 325,000-strong population.

A survey of 90 PCTs found that 35 had cut their budget for out-of-hours GP care, with the average budget reduced by 10%.

The results, released under Freedom of Information legislation, also revealed that 11 trusts employed only one GP to provide cover at night for between 180,000 and 535,000 people.

GP out-of-hours services have been hit by controversy and attracted fierce criticism after a number of high profile deaths including that of David Gray, a pensioner from Cambridgeshire.

Mr Gray, 70, was killed by a morphine overdose given by a German locum doctor, Daniel Ubani, who was on his first shift providing GP out-of-hours cover in Britain. Ubani complained he was tired and was unfamiliar with the drug.

Mr Gray’s son, Stuart Gray, said he was “appalled but not surprised” by the figures on out-of-hours coverage.

He told a newspaper: “It would appear some trusts really don’t care about patient safety or put it high on their agenda.

“I fear many PCT managers are driven by their desire to balance the books. This is morally repugnant.“Patients are still put at unacceptable risk by apparently negligent practices.”

Katherine Murphy, chief executive of The Patients Association, was also unsurprised by the figures.

She said: ‘These stark figures confirm what patients are telling us - it is incredibly difficult to get access to a GP out of hours either to talk by phone or to arrange a home visit.’

In 2004, a new contract enabled GPs to opt out of evening and weekend duties, meaning only one in four works out-of-hours now.

Many trusts have outsourced their out-of-hours GP cover to private firms and it is thought around a quarter of the population is covered by such providers.

A spokesman for Serco, a private firm that provides out-of-hours cover in Cornwall, said there had been only a ‘limited’ number of occasions in the past year when just one GP was on call.

Serco now ensures that at least two GPs are on call at night to cover the county’s 1,316 square miles, he said.

At least five nurses and paramedics are also on duty in cars in the area.

The Department of Health said local NHS groups were obliged to make sure a high standard of care was in place and to take action over any failings.

"The Untold Story" Behind The "Fast and Furious" Scandal And Other ABCNews "Stories"

Who are the human faces of the U.S. government's botched Fast and Furious gun-walking operation?

By Univision News
Sept. 28, 2012

Who are the human faces of the U.S. government's botched "Fast and Furious" gun-walking operation?

Often lost amid the rancor in Washington are the stories of dozens of people killed by guns that flowed south as part of the undercover operation, and later slipped out of view from U.S. officials. Univision's Investigative Unit (Univision Investiga) has identified massacres committed using guns from the ATF operation, including the killing of 16 young people attending a party in a residential area of Ciudad Juárez in January of 2010.

Additional guns, previously unreported by congressional investigators, found their way into the hands of drug traffickers across Latin America in countries such as, Honduras and Colombia, as well as the U.S. Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. A person familiar with the recent congressional hearings called Univision's findings "the holy grail" that Congress had been searching for.

Get the full story on "Fast and Furious" on a special edition of Univision's "Aquí y Ahora" (Here and Now) this Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT (6 p.m. Central), which will be aired with closed captioning in English.

Fast and Furious whistleblower Dodson demands retraction from Fortune

Fortune managing editor Serwer speaks at a dinner honoring "Powerful Women" in New York City last May--no word on whether Katherine Eban will get another shot to be one..

(Examiner.com) - Scooping other media with an exclusive story, Dylan Byers of Politico today reported he had obtained a copy of a letter dated yesterday from Robert N. Driscoll, the attorney for ATF whistleblower John Dodson, written to Fortune managing editor Andrew Serwer, that demanded retraction of a report by Katherine Eban the letter calls “demonstrably false in many respects.”

Dodson is the agent who first put a face to Fast and Furious whistleblowers when he was introduced to the world by Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News in February, 2011, and called attention to government-sanctioned gunwalking to Mexico.

Eban’s report represented itself as “The Truth about the Fast and Furious Scandal,” a conclusion not shared by Dodson’s attorney, who wrote “The flaws were obvious to anyone who knew the facts of Fast and Furious, and are obvious to everyone who reads the article following the release of the IG report.”

Also calling Eban’s account into question earlier was Sen. Chuck Grassley, who issued a July release advising “Eban Claims Rebutted by Fast and Furious Facts,” and Rep. Darrell Issa, whose press secretary responded in late June saying “Fortune’s story is a fantasy made up almost entirely from the accounts of individuals involved in the reckless tactics that took place in Operation Fast and Furious. It contains factual errors…”

With the release of the Inspector General’s report, the House Oversight Committee called on Fortune to retract Eban’s article last week.

This column presented an exclusive in August where the National Association of Federal Agents added its voice to those finding fault with the Fortune report, along with an assessment from citizen journalist Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsey Street Irregulars that “Eban may also have been provided information from John Dodson's personal ATF jacket -- a felony.”

Gun Rights Examiner had warned Congressional investigators to watch for retaliatory smears early on in its Fast and Furious coverage, and relayed a report in July of last year that Privacy Act-protected documents had been leaked by the Justice Department in an attempt to discredit Dodson.

Noting how the administration’s water carriers in the media were quick to embrace the Eban report with the intent to do just that to the Congressional gunwalking investigation, noting the credible concerns raised that Justice has been improperly communicating with supportive media, and noting how Justice Department public affairs honcho Tracy Schmaler (the same official who publicly dismissed a DC Bar complaint against her boss, Eric Holder, as “spurious” and “frivolous”), has also been caught feeding talking points to the Media Matters propaganda corps, Gun Rights Examiner included Eban on a “tweet” last Friday asking if she had also been getting information from Schmaler.

In light of everything, it seemed a reasonable question. There has been no reply to date.

Gloom & Doom Spin Courtesy of Politico And The DispairCrat Party: New Akin ad hits McCaskill on ethics, stimulus (Updated)

By JEDD ROSCHE 9/28/12 5:42 PM EDT

Todd Akin is coming out with a new ad, aggressively going after Sen. Claire McCaskill for getting rich from the president's 2009 stimulus plan. The ad, shared early with POLITICO, comes amid a flurry of new activity as Republicans decide whether to support Akin now that there's no question that he'll stay in the Missouri Senate race.

"Ever wonder why Claire McCaskill called the stimulus bill 'wildly successful'? The stimulus that didn't create jobs, that cost us billions. Well, now we know: The stimulus made McCaskill rich," the ad starts, adding that the stimulus sent more than $1 million to McCaskill's family through partnerships they owned.

The ad ends piggy backing off a 2009 quote McCaskill gave NBC's "Meet The Press", saying she and other Senators went through the Stimulus bill "line by line". "Claire McCaskill: Getting rich off us, line by line," the ad says.

Republican Senators and conservatives leaders are re-examining whether to back Akin since another deadline passed for Akin to get out of the race on Tuesday. On Thursday evening, the Louisville Courier-Journal published an interview with National Republican Senatorial Committee chairman Sen. John Cornyn re-enforcing the previously stated strategy not to put money into the race after Akin's controversial comments on rape, and calling the contest "not a winnable race". Former Missouri Sen. Kit Bond put out a statement today supporting Akin, after calling on him to get out of the race last month. Earlier in the week, Akin received endorsements from Sen. Jim DeMint and former Sen. Rick Santorum.

UPDATE: McCaskill's campaign reached out to take strong exception to the charges leveled in the Akin ad, and provided documentation that some of the claims in the commercial are misleading or wrong. The critical data point is that Akin's ad says McCaskill's husband, Joseph Shepard, pulled in $1 million from investments in government-subsidized housing projects -- but his share of investment in those projects was actually less than 5 percent, leaving him with far less than $1 million in income. What's more, McCaskill's campaign says that the payments Shepard received from the government were for contracts that predated the stimulus, and that the government would have been legally required to pay out regardless of whether the stimulus was passed.

That doesn't mean that Shepard wasn't tied to properties that received stimulus money, but the story is more complicated and rather less salacious than the Akin ad suggests.

McCaskill spokewoman Caitlin Legacki said in an email: "This ad is factually incorrect and is exactly the kind of nasty, desperate campaigning that Missourians hate. Todd Akin can't defend his own extreme record, so he's resorted to false, misleading attacks against Claire's family.Todd Akin should be ashamed."

German Jewish leader deters racist attack with gun!!!

Friday, September 28, 2012

BERLIN (Reuters) - A leading member of Germany's Jewish community had to point to a gun he was carrying to ward off a young man shouting anti-Semetic abuse, the latest in a string of racist incidents in Berlin that has shocked Jews and city authorities.

The Central Council of Jews in Germany said its general secretary, Michael Kramer, had endured a barrage of threatening insults from the man after leaving a Berlin synagogue with his two daughters on Wednesday.

"The man threatened us and made clear he would have lashed out if the children had not been there," the council quoted Kramer, 44, as saying on its website.

Kramer then pointed to a gun he is allowed to carry for his personal protection to deter the man from attacking him.

Germany's top-selling Bild newspaper carried a photograph of the young man that Kramer himself had taken at the time with his mobile phone. The man, with a partially shaven head, has an arm raised towards the phone as though about to push Kramer.

Bild quoted the man as having said to Kramer: "What are you doing here? Go back to where you came from."

Both Kramer and his adversary are pressing charges against each other, German media said.

Last month, one of the first rabbis ordained in Germany since the Holocaust, Daniel Alter, was beaten up on a Berlin street in front of his young daughter by four attackers, prompting a seminary to advise its students to avoid wearing skullcaps in public.

Germany's official Jewish population, now at around 120,000, has grown more than 10-fold in the last 20 years, thanks largely to an influx of Jews from the former Soviet Union, but anti-Semitic attacks are commonplace and policemen guard synagogues around the clock.

How superior KDF strategy caught al-Shabaab offguard

In Summary
KDF enter Kismayu in first sea-to-shore attack by an African military
Al-Shabaab was expecting ground assault but Kenya struck from sea
Kibaki leads praise for brave soldiers

Kenyan military planners duped Al-Shabaab into believing that a land invasion of their last remaining bastion of Kismayu was imminent before making an amphibious landing from the sea.

While Al-Shabaab planned its defences based on that assumption, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom) in the Horn of Africa country, was training at sea.

“As the KAF (Kenya Air Force) engaged in aerial attacks the other forces were moving in by sea, from where they were to disembark. Essentially, it was intended to divert attention, especially from the Al-Shabaab.

That’s why you (the media) did not know about it yesterday (Thursday),” said Col Cyrus Oguna, the KDF spokesman.

The surprise landing in Somalia’s coastal city of Kismayu by Kenyan troops on Friday was the culmination of a three-day secret undertaking, the Saturday Nation can reveal.

It involved attacks from the air, land and sea, all happening at the same time, and was codenamed Operation Sledge Hammer.

It was the first time the KDF ground troops set foot in Kismayu, the stronghold of terrorist group Al-Shabaab, since the Kenyan troops crossed the border into Somalia in October last year. (READ: Kenya declares Kismayu fall imminent)

Landed in middle of the night

The operation involved bombing by KAF F-5 jets and more shelling by Kenya Navy ships from the Indian Ocean with the ultimate aim – landing Kenya Army troops in the city – being executed in the middle of the night.

Col Oguna, the operations officer in charge of Information at KDF, said: “By 2am (Friday), the last forces had gotten out of the naval vessels and were safely on the ground. It has been on for the past three days and that’s why there were air strikes in key Al-Shabaab logistical bases.”

The high-ranking officer left his usual station in Nairobi for Kismayu and arrived with the fighting troops so as to provide regular updates from the battleground.

Col Oguna said the capture, a secret undertaking, was an “amphibious operation”, an organised military landing by means of combined naval and land forces.

Military officers and analysts have since dubbed it the first of its kind in Africa.

The strategy was all along to make the Al-Shabaab believe that the attack on Kismayu would be launched by ground troops advancing by road, most probably the ones at Jana Abdalla, the most recent township to be captured by KDF before Friday’s onslaught.

‘KNS Jasiri’ sees action

Recently acquired naval warship KNS Jasiri, which arrived in Kenya in August, was among the vessels used to transport the Kenya Army troops. Col Oguna said the naval vessels carrying the ground troops left “one of the maritime bases” in time for the fall of Kismayu.

By Friday afternoon, KDF and Somali National Army had not suffered casualties, according to Col Oguna. The SNA has been fighting alongside the KDF in southern Somalia under the banner of Amisom.

“So far we have encountered minimal resistance. So the casualties on the side of Al-Shabaab are mainly due to airstrikes that are ongoing as the ground troops advance towards Kismayu’s CBD (Central Business District) from the port,” said Col Oguna.

Radio pranksters pose as Harper, fool UN boss

Asked top diplomat to call NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman

QMI Agency

First posted: Friday, September 28, 2012 09:43 AM EDT | Updated: Friday, September 28, 2012 04:29 PM EDT

MONTREAL - They've fooled Sarah Palin, Donald Trump and Britney Spears, but Montreal radio pranksters Justiciers Masques (Masked Avengers) might have snared their biggest fish yet — UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.

Posing as Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the comedic duo sidestepped security protocols in less than an hour and said they actually pulled Ban out of a meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama. The Avengers began their prank simply by calling the UN's switchboard number in New York City, earlier this week.

The pranksters took turns playing Harper and begged Ban to call NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman to ask him to get a hockey team back to Quebec City.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t deliver a speech at the UN assembly,” the fake Harper said on the phone to Ban, referring to the fact that the real Harper chose Foreign Minister John Baird to represent Canada at the UN this week.

“I sent my pet dog John Baird instead!” the fake Harper said. “I was too busy combing my hair with crazy glue.”

Ban responded incredulously, asking if he was really speaking to the Canadian prime minister.

“Hold on, let me get him for you,” the fake Harper said.

The second Harper then got on the line: “Mr. Ban, I’m calling because the UN has to give support to the Quebec Nordiques ... You have to speak to Gary Bettman!”

“I don’t understand what you are saying,” Ban replied. Soon after, the UN head figured out he was being pranked.

“My impression is that I’m being fooled,” Ban said.

The comedians told QMI Agency that getting through UN security was “by far our biggest coup ever," said Marc-Antoine Audette, one half of the deceptive duo along with Sebastien Trudel.

"It's an incredible security failure," Audette continued. "We've never seen it in our 15-year career. We can't believe it."

America has nothing to apologize for

Rex Murphy

U.S. president Barack Obama addresses the UN General Assembly meeting on Tuesday. John Moore/Getty Images

The idea that a months-old anti-Islam video of dubious and confused provenance, amateur and plodding in its execution, a mere 14 or 15 minutes long and available only on Youtube, was the prime mover behind the attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya is and was always farcical. The further idea that it was the catalytic trigger for the riots that mushroomed around the Islamic world on the days after the 11th anniversary of 9/11 is even more farcical.

Yet from the very beginning the Obama White House has been furiously insisting that “it’s the video.” Everyone from the president to his secretary of state to UN ambassador Susan Rice, have gone over the top in condemning the video in the hardest language possible for them.

Ms. Rice in particular went to the extreme of appearing on five Sunday morning news shows to claim that it was the video and nothing else. They all proclaimed the video was “insulting,” that it was “reprehensible.” Mr. Obama, in his UN speech this week, gave several paragraphs over to the video. It was both “crude and insulting.” He went even further: “(the video) was an insult to our common humanity.”

Really, an “insult to our common humanity?” Syria right now might qualify for that phrase. Some events in Africa, maybe. But this insignificant Youtube video? The excess of the rhetoric is the first key to its falsity.

There are real problems associated with making this video the precipitating “cause” of all the unrest we have seen, to placing it at the centre of events that saw the U.S. consulate in Benghazi attacked in force, with the U.S. ambassador and three others killed.

The first, and I have to believe the principal one, is that it is not true. An attack on a consulate on the anniversary of 9/11, in the year in which the U.S. president has not been shy about bragging that “Osama is dead,” surely has nearer causes than some basement video by an obscure individual.

The video, however, has functioned as a kind of 21st century version the age-old “border incident.” Previous to now, warring nations would stage outrages on the others’ territories, wearing enemy uniforms to manufacture an “incident.” It’s easier now — point to some esoteric item on the Internet and proclaim the prophet is being mocked. Riots follow as to a Pavlovian bell. And apologies from the high authorities in the West with equal celerity.

Secondly, I have not heard such urgent and unctuous concerns being expressed about the honour of religion, the need to respect it and its believers of every faith, and the importance of religion to all, since Holy Week in my own Catholic boyhood so many turns of the moon ago. All that was missing in some of Hillary’s statements was someone walking alongside swinging the aromatic censer.

There is no emphatic “respect for religion” in the United States of today. That stream of apology and denunciation based on “respect for religion” is so far bent from reality it is close to being an active lie. The mockery of every traditional religion, the outrages sometimes perpetrated against them in “art-installations” or movies or books is part of the normal practice of American artistic and entertainment enterprise. Mainstream beliefs are ridiculed with insolence and frequency and no one, save of course the much put upon “true believers,” either registers the offence or offers apology.

I have yet to hear on a single occasion anything like the fevered cascade of denunciation that has been visited on the Innocence of Muslims on any other item or act that has delivered offence to Christians and their practice, or any other religion. It’s Islam they apologize to and no other faith. Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama would be more truthful in their declarations if they said that they have “respect” for Muslim sensibilities and condemn films that mock Muhammad, but that’s where such respect stops.

Finally, the U.S. has no business apologizing for a video it had nothing to do with. Apologizing for it only “validates” the lie that the video was the cause of killings and riots. It implies a connection between the authority apologizing and the video, which does not exist. And the apology even as it is being made is false: It is impossible to apologize for what you did not do.

All in all the Obama administration’s response to Benghazi and linked events has been confused, wrong and disingenuous.

Muslim, Mahdi, or Anti-Christ?

Obama's unequivocal defense of Islam at the expense of every other religion – Christianity in particular

- Erik Rush and Jim Garrow
Friday, September 28, 2012

It should come as no surprise to those of us who read classic literature that those who make pacts with the devil eventually meet with desolation. Daniel Webster understood this, as do many preachers who stand in their pulpits and proclaim that you cannot enjoy the avails of sin for long; the pleasures, though real, are short-lived, and judgment always follows.

It seems obvious to those who watched the rise of the impertinent sham in the White House that something almost “magical” had accompanied his ascendancy, something other than his silver tongue and the ever-present teleprompter. How could an unknown with no track record for accomplishing anything of significance ascend to the Mt. Everest of power in our known universe?

These are questions that will likely persist for some years; until then, it is obvious to all but his most devoted followers that something has changed dramatically in the sphere of President Barack Obama since 2008. As though an angel had pulled the plug, we have seen an increasingly bumbling, fumbling shlub on the campaign trail. From time to time, Obama has waxed almost incoherent, a departure from his tightly-scripted, messianic oratory of 2008, and his cool, collected, “don’t you wish you were me?” presence.

In a less corrupted environment, this would bring Obama’s detractors almost pure joy. Instead, we have the feeling in the pit of our stomachs that ultimately, inevitably, this is a fraud sustained by those whose cravings for power and full pockets have led to their total submission to the myth that sits in the Oval Office. Though the myth is losing its lustre as the wheels of state begin to fall off, Muslims in the Middle East are showing their solidarity with Obama, just as he predicted.

Why have some religious leaders in the East speculated as to whether President Barack Obama might be Islam’s Mahdi, or Twelfth Imam? The prophecy of the Mahdi is, for the uninitiated, the Muslim approximation of the Jewish or Christian Messiah. He is embodied in different ways depending on the branch of Islam with which one is dealing, and is of different levels of significance.

Shiite Muslim sect places the greatest stock in the Mahdi

At present, the Shiite Muslim sect places the greatest stock in the Mahdi, and the entire Iranian paradigm as expressed by their leadership centers around this figure, his rise to power, and Iran’s role in bringing about his advent. This is largely the reason for their current political comportment, as they believe that fomenting an Islamic revolution is part of this process. The Mahdi, once in power, is prophesied to subjugate (read “kill”) all remaining infidels, and establish Islam in the four corners of the Earth.

Good enough. But how would Obama figure into this? Granted that some of the advertised similarities between the prophetic figure and the US president are superficial, some are not so superficial. Certain physical similarities are right on the mark (yes, they purport to know what this fellow will look like), yet others fall far off. More practically significant are the things that Obama has done during his tenure, which definitely speak to this apocalyptic prophecy.

Although some Muslims overseas are said to despise Obama with a purple passion, let us examine some of his dubious accomplishments from the perspective of the more contemplative Islamic zealot…

Obama facilitated the “Arab Spring”

Although the Western press fails to acknowledge this, it is practically common knowledge that Obama facilitated the “Arab Spring.” He’s also thrown Israel under the bus, and done his level best to cripple America economically and in the areas of defense and national security.

Add to that his amity with the Muslim Brotherhood, having aided them in expanding their sphere of influence not only in the Muslim world, but within the US, and you have someone who has probably garnered more support than enmity among Muslims. The only thing Obama really has going against him is having systematically taken out key al-Qaeda leaders, and this could be explained away as a matter of characteristically convoluted Muslim doctrine. How many Muslims have been killed by other Muslims via suicide attacks in recent years?

What we must understand is that the hatred the Muslim world has for the US is not rooted in national identity, practices, or culture. It is rooted in its Christianity. Christianity had its genesis in Judaism, thus they have hated us since the days of Ishmael and Hagar (his Mother) and the disrespect shown the founder of the Arab peoples. This has never been forgotten. The fact that Israel sprang from the seed of Abraham (and thus the Arabs and Jews are related) is lost in the shuffle. God promised that there would always be “enmity” between the two races, and as usual He has proven to be correct.

Obama’s unequivocal defense of Islam at the expense of every other religion – Christianity in particular

In the time of Christ, there was a forebear of His coming; John the Baptist declared that the Jews would need to prepare, for the promised one was near. Would Obama be the Mahdi himself, or “the voice crying in the wilderness,” making the way for his appearance? One thing that has been made plain is his unequivocal defense of Islam at the expense of every other religion – Christianity in particular.

In the practical sense, our problem is indeed wrapped up in what or who Barack Hussein Obama is (or thinks he is), and why he does what he does. Is it one of today’s more complex of questions, or is it as simple as a fake bringing down the most Christian nation on the planet?

Whether his “deal with the devil” has played out, or he’s simply worn out his welcome, he has proven his ability to mobilize the forces of evil, to the peril of us all.

Mental Illness Running Rampant In Washington State: Hate Crime Allegations Shock, Frighten Community

(Associated Posers) - KIRKLAND, Washington - State and federal authorities are investigating a possible hate crime in Kirkland, a Seattle suburb with population of around 50,000, after a peanut butter and jelly sandwich was found hanging from a tree branch near the sidewalk. Daryl Thomas, a local African-American found the offending sandwich in a tree in the yard of Rodney Smith, who is white,.

Daryl Thomas said his tenure at the Harvey Scott School in Portland, Oregon as an assistant teacher had showed him that a peanut butter jelly sandwich was a racist symbol of dominant white culture. “It was very obvious, to me, I have witnesses a lynching” he told the Portland Tribune newspaper website.

Indeed since 2010 the cash-starved Portland school district has spent $530,000 teaching and training teachers to spot evidence of white culture and white privilege everywhere they look. The Harvey Scott School itself is ranked in the bottom 15% of schools in the state.

“I recognized it for a hate crime and I notified the police” Daryl Thomas proudly told the local media at an impromptu press conference near the tree where this took place. Meanwhile the local police dutifully waited until the press gathered to escort Rodney Smith to the police cruiser where he would be taken to a police station for questioning.

Principal Vernice Gutierrez said she is proud of her assistant teacher for being proactive in the face of a racist hate attack. “I think we should all be able to find and extinguish white privilege and culture wherever we find it. Daryl Thomas is a credit to his people”.

Meanwhile police say that Rodney Smith denied any racial motivation for the sandwich lynching and said the whole idea perplexed him. “If someone lynched a symbol of white culture, wouldn't that be a hate crime against whites?” he asked “None of this makes any sense”.

Meanwhile the Portland NAACP, Pacific Educational Group and Pacifica Radio were planning to hold a demonstration they called a March Against Jelly Engendered Stereo Typing In King County, or MAJESTICK. The planned to demand hate crime charges against Rodney Smith and a vigorous prosecution. Rachel Talbot Ross of the local NAACP spoke at the press conference “This act of hate and bigotry must be wiped from the conscious mind of America's slave-holding class. We demand that this District Attorney put this racist Neanderthal in prison, away from civilized people”.

Sheriff Steve Strachan says that Rodney Smith is being held in protective custody momentarily while the investigation continued. Meanwhile Smiths' lawyer, Antonio Valdez, told the local media that his client had no racist feelings at all. “The tree is right next to the sidewalk on the side of his house, he says he has no idea who put it there or why. It could easily have been a prank”.

The Portland Tribune website and the radio station owned by the company KPAM have been calling for “hunt and destroy” missions against “white privilege”. Meanwhile some locals, behind closed doors, said that people have hung peanut butter sandwiches for decades to attract squirrels, which were hunted for food.

“I have no doubt this was a hate crime” said the Pacific Education Group's founder and President Glenn Singleton “No justice, no peace”.

Rona Ambrose speaks during Question Period in the House of Commons on June 19. Chris Wattie/Reuters

I don’t understand militant feminists. They keep saying they want to have more women in politics. You’d think they’d show respect for the minority of women who actually do make it to the top of the heap through their own merit. Even if feminists don’t always agree with the opinions of such women, the larger point is surely to ensure that strong women of character are heard in the corridors of power.

Surely not, it would seem.

Rona Ambrose, minister for the status of women, dared to vote her conscience on Motion 312 — a private member’s bill endorsing the creation of a committee that would define when human life begins — and was immediately attacked by a number of high-profile feminists. Deputy NDP leader Libby Davies, for instance, effectively excommunicated Ambrose from woman-dom for the crime of apostasy: “As the minister responsible for the status of women, I think there’s a very clear expectation that [Ms. Ambrose] will uphold the rights of women in this country.… She showed that she wasn’t prepared to do that yesterday by the way she voted.”

Another, Gail Robinson, director of the University Health Network’s Women’s Mental Health Program, says Ms. Ambrose should be “particularly ashamed” because of her status of women title. But as a Post editorial board member responded, “Ashamed? For what? Voting her conscience on one of the most important bioethical issues facing humanity?”

Ms. Ambrose was very precise about her reasons for her vote: “I have repeatedly raised concerns about discrimination of girls by sex-selection abortion,” she tweeted. “No law needed, but we need awareness.”

The haughty self-righteousness of Ms. Ambrose’s detractors is insufferable when one considers the devotion of Ms. Ambrose to the concerns, misery and occluded rights of those women from patriarchal, misogynistic cultures who are most in need of feminist support.

I have seen Ms. Ambrose’s empathy for these girls and women close up and personal. Last spring, Ms. Ambrose helped to organize an Ottawa launch for a memoir I co-wrote with a Canadian woman born and raised in India, Aruna Papp. Papp is a counsellor and advocate for South Asian girls and women trapped in the same repressive honour/shame family dynamics she experienced, a closed cultural box from which it is difficult to escape.

Ms. Ambrose’s motivation for helping us was to raise awareness amongst her political peers about the issues that Aruna’s life story illustrated. She wanted other politicians to be aware that the cultural subjugation of women does not disappear when they arrive in Canada, but often persists into the second and even third generations. Such girls and women need intervention to break the cycle, and Ms. Ambrose has made it her personal mission to advance that process.

Accompanying Aruna to the launch was a young Toronto Muslim woman whom Aruna had been counselling and mentoring. The girl, K., insisted she wanted to tell her story personally to Ms. Ambrose. It was not a pretty tale. Her parents had taken her to Pakistan when she was 16, ostensibly to attend a family wedding, but in reality to force her marriage to a cousin so she could bring his family to Canada. She refused and was punitively raped by her kinsman, coming back to Canada in disgrace, then forcibly confined in her home for months, enduring daily threats of death. She escaped and was placed in a safe house. But the trauma has taken a terrible mental toll. (Recently, she attempted suicide.)

In short, K is exactly the sort of woman whom feminists should be supporting (instead of spending their time perversely demanding the unmitigated right of Canadian parents to kill girl fetuses in the womb).

We arrived early at the launch, as did Ms. Ambrose. She and K went off to a corner to talk. Ms. Ambrose’s eyes never left the girl’s face, which was soon wet with tears. It is the politician’s art to bond with everyone who approaches them, of course — but in this case, I saw clear physical evidence that K’s story had resonated with the minister on a very personal level. I could see how genuinely moved she had become.

Rona Ambrose is a better feminist than the women who criticize her. She is one of the few people in power who is not afraid to call out culturally-motivated misogyny. The so-called feminists who upbraid her on the abortion file have made a pact with an intellectual devil. They have sold their feminist souls, repeatedly and pointedly ignoring the travails of their sisters from regions where women are devalued, in order to maintain the by-now corroded principle of unregulated and uninterrogated abortion.

Any woman who defies the feminists’ dogma on abortion gets long rhetorical knives in the back. But these faux feminists should know that Ms. Ambrose is made of sterner stuff than the male politicians they are used to cowing.

President of the Future

Unfortunately the rest of us have to live in Obama’s present.

September 29, 2012 4:00 A.M.
By Mark Steyn

(National Review) - One of the reasons why Barack Obama is regarded as the greatest orator of our age is that he’s always banging on about some other age yet to come — e.g., the Future! A future of whose contours he is remarkably certain and boundlessly confident: The future will belong to nations that invest in education because the children are our future, but the future will not belong to nations that do not invest in green-energy projects because solar-powered prompters are our future, and most of all the future will belong to people who look back at the Obama era and marvel that there was a courageous far-sighted man willing to take on the tough task of slowing the rise of the oceans because the future will belong to people on viable land masses. This futuristic shtick is a cheap’n’cheesy rhetorical device (I speak as the author of a book called “After America,” whose title is less futuristic than you might think) but it seems to play well with the impressionable Obammysoxers of the press corps.

And so it was with President Obama’s usual visionary, inspiring, historic, etc., address to the U.N. General Assembly the other day: “The future must not belong to those who bully women,” he told the world, in a reference either to Egyptian clitoridectomists or the Republican party, according to taste. “The future must not belong to those who target Coptic Christians,” he added. You mean those Muslim guys? Whoa, don’t jump to conclusions. “The future must not belong to those who slander the Prophet of Islam,” he declared, introducing to U.S. jurisprudence the novel concept of being able to slander a bloke who’s been dead for getting on a millennium and a half now. If I understand correctly the cumulative vision of the speech, the future will belong to gay feminist ecumenical Muslims. You can take that to the bank. But make no mistake, as he would say, and in fact did: “We face a choice between the promise of the future or the prisons of the past, and we cannot afford to get it wrong.” Because if we do, we could spend our future living in the prisons of the past, which we forgot to demolish in the present for breach of wheelchair-accessibility codes.

And the crowd went wild! Well, okay, they didn’t. They’re transnational bureaucrats on expense accounts, so they clapped politely, and then nipped out for a bathroom break before the president of Serbia. But, if I’d been one of the globetrotting bigwigs fortunate enough to get an invite — the prime minister of Azerbaijan, say, or the deputy tourism minister of Equatorial Guinea — I would have responded: Well, maybe the future will belong to those who empower women and don’t diss Mohammed. But maybe it’ll belong to albino midgets who wear pink thongs. Who knows? Que sera sera, whatever will be will be, the future’s not ours to see. But one thing we can say for certain is that the future will not belong to broke losers. You’re the brokest guy in the room, you’re the president of Brokistan. You’ve got to pay back $16 trillion just to get back to having nothing, nada, zip. Who the hell are you to tell us who the future’s going to belong to?

The excitable lads around the globe torching American embassies with impunity seem to have figured this out, even if the striped-pants crowd at Turtle Bay are too polite to mention it. Obama is not the president of the Future. He is president right now, and one occasionally wishes the great visionary would take his eye off the far-distant horizon where educated women and fire-breathing imams frolic and gambol side by side around their Chevy Volts, to focus on the humdrum present where the rest of us have the misfortune to live.

In the America over which Barack Obama has the tedious chore of actually presiding, second-quarter GDP growth was revised down from 1.7 percent to 1.3 percent — or, in layman’s terms, from “barely detectable” to “comatose.” Orders of durable goods fell by 13.2 percent — or, as Obama would say, the future must not belong to people who own household appliances. Growth of capital stock (which basically measures investment in new equipment and software — or, as Obama would put it, investment in “the future”) is at its lowest since records began. There are 261,000 fewer payroll jobs than when Obama took office — in a nation where (officially) 100,000 immigrants arrive every month. A few weeks ago, an analysis of government employment data by the nation’s oldest outplacement firm, Challenger, Gray & Christmas, discovered that, of the 4,319,000 new American jobs created since January 2010, 2,998,000 — or about 70 percent — went to people aged 55 or older. This is a remarkable statistic, even in a land of 31-year-old schoolgirls like Sandra Fluke. You’d almost begin to get the vague, unsettling feeling that the future does not belong to Americans aged 54 and younger.

‘Truth Team’ rushes to throw ‘Obama Phone’ woman under bus

by Twitchy Staff

It didn’t take long for the video of a screeching Mitt Romney protester (and 47-percenter poster star) in Ohio to go viral and for #ObamaPhone to trend on Twitter. The Obama campaign noticed it too, and you’d think they’d be quick to thank such a passionate supporter for her boots-on-the-ground help, but instead the campaign’s “Truth Team” has wasted no time disconnecting.

"Obama- Endorsed Democracy" UPDATE: EGYPT IS CRUCIFYING CHRISTIANS

NYTIMES; NTEB

Posted by RichSr
09/29/2012

I will call my Congressman and both my senators and every forum I can find to tell them to stop any and all aid to the Middle East because Egypt is CRUCIFYING Christians; they strip them then nail them to trees then crucify them as they did the Christ! I am not ashamed to say I am a Christian.

Obama has no time to meet with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - BUT - he has $450,000,000.00 to give to the Muslim Brotherhood?? The aid is part of the $1 billion in assistance that the Obama administration has pledged to Egypt to bolster its transition to democracy after the overthrow last year of the former president, Hosni Mubarak. Its fate, however, was clouded by concerns over the new government’s policies and, more recently, the protests that damaged the American Embassy in Cairo. The United States Agency for International Development notified Congress of the cash infusion on Friday morning during the pre-election recess, promptly igniting a smoldering debate over foreign aid and the administration’s handling of crises in the Islamic world. An influential Republican lawmaker, Representative Kay Granger of Texas, immediately announced that she would use her position as chairwoman of the House appropriations subcommittee overseeing foreign aid to block the distribution of the money. She said the American relationship with Egypt “has never been under more scrutiny” than it is in the wake of the election of President Mohamed Morsi, a former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood. “I am not convinced of the urgent need for this assistance and I cannot support it at this time,” Ms. Granger said in a statement that her office issued even before the administration announced the package. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking at a meeting of the Group of 8 nations in New York, said on Friday that the world needed to do more to support the governments that have emerged from the Arab Spring uprisings, including those in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia. “The recent riots and protests throughout the region have brought the challenge of transition into sharp relief,” Mrs. Clinton said, without mentioning the assistance to Egypt specifically. “Extremists are clearly determined to hijack these wars and revolutions to further their agendas and ideology, so our partnership must empower those who would see their nations emerge as true democracies.” The debate comes as the issue of foreign aid in general made an unexpected appearance in the presidential campaign. In a speech in New York on Tuesday, Mr. Obama’s Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, called for revamping assistance to focus more on investments in the private sector than on direct aid — a shift administration officials have said is under way. While Mr. Romney did not address aid to Egypt directly, he cited Mr. Morsi’s membership in the Muslim Brotherhood as one of the alarming developments in the Middle East, along with the war in Syria, Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons and the killing of the American ambassador to Libya. “A temporary aid package can jolt an economy,” he said. “It can fund some projects. It can pay some bills. It can employ some people some of the time. But it can’t sustain an economy — not for long. It can’t pull the whole cart, because at some point the money runs out.” The $1 billion in aid, announced by Mr. Obama in May 2011, was initially intended to relieve Egypt’s debts to the United States, though negotiations stalled during the country’s turbulent transition from military rule to the election of Mr. Morsi this summer. In recent weeks, negotiations over the assistance picked up pace, and the administration decided to provide $450 million instead, including $190 million immediately, because the country’s economic crisis has become acute, with an estimated budget shortfall of $12 billion. The assistance outlined in letters to Congress on Friday would be contingent on Egypt’s setting in motion economic and budgetary changes that the International Monetary Fund is now negotiating as part of a $4.8 billion loan. The administration has also thrown its support behind that loan, and officials said they hoped it would be completed before the end of the year. A $260 million infusion would come when the much larger loan is completed, according to officials familiar with the package. By law, all assistance to Egypt is contingent on the country’s meeting certain requirements, including adherence to basic democratic values and the Camp David peace treaty with Israel. The protests over an anti-Muslim video and the storming of the American Embassy in Cairo on Sept. 11 came even as senior White House and State Department officials led a large business delegation to promote economic assistance and trade in Egypt. Mr. Morsi’s slow response to the protests raised concerns in Washington, although administration officials later cited improved cooperation over the embassy’s security. The $1 billion in assistance has been cobbled together from funds already appropriated by Congress, but the administration is required to notify lawmakers of its intention to release any of the funds. Ms. Granger presumably can put a hold on that release and pursue legislation to reverse the appropriation. Mrs. Clinton lobbied lawmakers last week during closed-door briefings that focused on the tumult across the region, including the attack at the American diplomatic mission in Libya that killed Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. In addition to the $1 billion in assistance, the administration is working with Egypt to provide $375 million in financing and loan guarantees for American financiers who invest in Egypt and a $60 million investment fund for Egyptian businesses. All of that comes on top of $1.3 billion in military aid that the United States provides Egypt each year. A senior State Department official said that the administration would consult with members of Congress in the days ahead “to make the case that this budget support is firmly in U.S. interests in seeing peace, stability and democracy in Egypt and the wider neighborhood.”

Taxpayers Spent $1.4 Billion On Obama Family Last Year, Perks Questioned In New Book

Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks.

In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family.

Author Robert Keith Gray writes in “Presidential Perks Gone Royal” that Obama isn’t the only president to have taken advantage of the expensive trappings of his office. But the amount of money spent on the first family, he argues, has risen tremendously under the Obama administration and needs to be reined in.

Gray told The Daily Caller that the $1.4 billion spent on the Obama family last year is the “total cost of the presidency,” factoring the cost of the “biggest staff in history at the highest wages ever,” a 50 percent increase in the numbers of appointed czars and an Air Force One “running with the frequency of a scheduled air line.”

“The most concerning thing, I think, is the use of taxpayer funds to actually abet his re-election,” Gray, who worked in the Eisenhower administration and for other Republican presidents, said in an interview with TheDC on Wednesday.

American Muslims Want Limits on Free Speech

By Todd Starnes

Islamic leaders in Missouri and New Jersey are calling for lawmakers to limit free speech after an anti-Muslim film sparked outrage across the world.

The Islamic Society of Greater Kansas City has launched a petition calling on Congress to “establish a law against insulting one’s religion.”

“We understand the First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights and, as such, prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, etc., but when the allowance of “free” speech incites violence it should be banned,” read a statement from the Islamic Society.

While condemning the violence that was originally blamed on the film, the Muslim group said ti would “be in everyone’s interest to ban such actions from reoccurring.”

“We condemn the violence and feel that, in spite of the First Amendment of the U. S. Constitution, action may be necessary to pass such a bill or, at least, censure such actions in order to calm the current situation as well as prevent future re-occurrences,” the statement read.

The Islamic Society in Kansas City is not alone in their calls for limiting free speech.

“We, as Americans, have to put limits and borders [on[ freedom of speech,” Imam Mohammad Qatanani told The Blaze.

He leads the Islamic Center of Passaic County, one of the largest mosques in New Jersey.

Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Council on American Islamic Relations, told Fox News that he doesn’t believe the calls for speech restrictions will go anywhere.

“I think it’s just an expression of frustration at the insults directed at the Prophet Mohammed,” he said. “It’s really a non-starter. The First Amendment protects freedom of expression – - even hate speech.”

Hooper said mainstream Americans should be promoting mutual understanding.

“The real answer is to promote more speech – but speech directed at promoting mutual understanding and not interfaith hostility,” he said.

And Hooper said in this day and age it’s nearly impossible to limit speech.

“Even if one wanted to put limitations on any type of speech – in the Internet era – it’s just impossible,” he said. ‘no matter what anyone would try and censor there would always be a way around it.”

Paul Kengor, a professor of political science at Grove City College, told Fox News he is not surprised at the calls to limit free speech.

“This is America,” Kengor said. “You have the right to be critical and even insulting of other religious beliefs – so long as you do it in a peaceful and nonviolent way. That’s what makes us different from the Muslim world – where you generally don’t have those same rights.”

Kengor said he is interested to see how liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union responds to the petition.

“Are they going to stay true to their convictions of freedom of expression or are they going to hold a double standard here and accommodate Muslims?”

The ACLU did not return calls seeking comment.

SEIU protesters outside a Mitt Romney campaign event in Ohio on Wednesday admitted on camera that they were paid $11 an hour to picket.

The video, posted to YouTube on Wednesday, showed protesters carrying a variety of signs including “SEIU for Obama 2012.” Some wore T-shirts in the labor union’s signature purple.

“We rode down here today,“ one man with an ”SEIU for Obama” sign said on camera. “They’re paying $11 an hour.”

Screaming Obama Supporter Explains Why We Need to Re-Elect President: ‘He Gave Us a Phone, He Gonna Do More!’

Yesterday, both President Obama and Mitt Romney were in the swing state of Ohio campaigning. At one Romney event near Cleveland, a group of Obama supporters gathered to voice their dislike for Romney.

One apparent Obama supporter was caught on video seemingly giving a very clear explanation of why she is voting for the president and why she does not like Mitt Romney.

The passionate explanation for the former involves Obama giving free phones:

In case you did not hear that clearly, we will transcribe it as best we can.

“Everybody in Cleveland, low minorities, got Obama phone. Keep Obama in president, you know. He gave us a phone, he gonna do more.”

The person shooting the video asks, How did he give you a phone? To which the woman replies: “You sign up! If you on food stamps, you on social security, you got low income, you disability…”

The video includes a cut at that point and picks up with the filmer asking “What’s wrong with Romney?” Without blinking, the passionate Obama supporter says:

“Romney, he sucks! Bad.”

If this kind of thinking sounds familiar, we have heard similar comments from Obama supporters as far back as 2009.

TheBlaze has also reached out to the person who posted the video, requesting the entire, unedited clip.

For the record, government sponsored cell phones started long before President Obama took office. However, the size of the program (and its cost) have grown considerably since 2008.

FCC Chair Defends Power Grab

(CNSNews.com) – Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Julius Genachowski defended his agency’s role in regulating broadband Internet, saying that the FCC needed to act like a “cop on the beat.”

“We need to protect and promote competition,” Genachowski said at a speech to media firm Vox Communications in Washington on Tuesday. “We know from decades of experience that when it comes to competition in the communications sector, the FCC needs to be a cop on the beat.”

Genachowski said that part of this “cop on the beat” approach meant putting rules in place that “prevent anti-competitive practices.”

“Protecting competition sometimes means putting rules in place to prevent anti-competitive practices – rules we adopted last year by majority vote to ensure broadband data roaming is one example,” he said.

Genachowski also cited controversial net neutrality rules as one way the FCC prevents anti-competitive behavior.

“Sometimes government has to act to preserve platforms for innovation – that’s what the open internet/net neutrality debate was all about – doing it in a smart, market-oriented way that recognizes the realities of the marketplace, the fact that we really want an open platform for innovators and we also really want robust, fast networks that require capital investment.

“It drives you to policy solutions that recognize the importance of both.”

Genachowski said he was “proud” that his net neutrality regulations have contributed to what he called a “virtuous cycle” of demand and innovation.

Adopted in 2010, the FCC’s rules on preserving what it called an open Internet prevented Internet service providers such as Verizon or Comcast from controlling the bandwidth available to websites using their networks.

Proponents such as Genachowski argue that the rules are necessary to prevent providers – local telephone or cable companies – from discriminating against websites by limiting how much bandwidth a site could use or by pricing some websites out of the market by charging for extra bandwidth.

If Internet providers were not prevented from limiting bandwidth on their networks, innovation and entrepreneurship might be harmed because it wouldn’t be possible to start companies that rely on high-bandwidth technology such as high-definition video or large-volume social sharing.

In effect, Internet providers would have a monopoly-like effect on web-based companies – controlling who can succeed and who cannot.

Critics argue that the rules are a solution in search of a problem, saying that the FCC is needlessly intruding on the rights of service providers – who own broadband Internet networks – by limiting their ability to control the networks they built in the name of a problem that isn’t happening.

Critics point to the lack of disputes between companies and Internet providers, noting that no provider has ever shut an Internet-based company out of the market or deliberately limited bandwidth. Critics also point out that the only case in which a bandwidth dispute has arisen – between Verizon and a music-sharing website – the two companies came to an agreement without the need of government involvement.

Further, the policy is criticized on constitutional grounds on the argument that in telling Internet providers that they cannot limit access to their networks, the FCC is essentially compelling speech – forcing providers to allow content they may find objectionable across their networks.
