Institutional Crimes By Taxation: Shoppers, grocers weigh trend to tax plastic bags

Paper or plastic?

If you choose the latter it could soon cost you.

The trend to trash plastic bags is sweeping across the country, and Pennsylvania could be the latest state to join the movement.

Daylin Leach, a state senator from Montgomery County, introduced legislation earlier this month that would impose a 2-cent tax on every plastic bag.

"Obama-Endorsed" Democracy: Update

08/16/13

On August 14, 2013, Egyptian security forces began forcibly dispersing the six-week-long sit-ins by supporters of ousted president Muhammad Mursi and of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) near Cairo's Rabaa Al-Adawiya Mosque and Al-Nahda Square. The move came after all local, regional, and international efforts to broker an agreement between representatives of the ousted regime and of the current regime had failed.

The issue of the dispersal of the sit-ins has been disputed in Egyptian society for several weeks. Many MB opponents, including columnist for the Egyptian Al-Ahram daily Ahmad Moussa, claimed that the central sit-ins, at these two sites, were being run like an independent entity separate from the state, and were stockpiling weapons, torturing activists seeking to leave, exploiting women and children, and inciting violence; therefore, he said, the sit-ins must be broken up.

MB supporters rejected these claims, insisting that the protests were strictly peaceful, and even called on the public to come to see for themselves. Dr. Hilmi Al-Qa'oud, columnist for the MB website, compared the current regime's decision to break up the sit-ins to Hitler's "final solution," and warned that doing so would only make the protests expand countrywide and fan the flames of the uprising against the current regime.

The following are translated excerpts from the columns, both published August 14, 2013, by Moussa and Al-Qa'oud:

UN Office for Disarmament Affairs – Including Americans

08/15/13

The United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs has released on August 5th with the turn in the ECM an amazing agenda where they will assist member nations to confiscate weapons from civilians. Who is behind this would be very interesting to find out. Effectively, there seems to be an agenda to disarm the people that can only be to cut off revolution. They will certainly not be disarming criminals. This will apply to registered guns.

Given Obama has been buying up all ammunition and tried to ban guns under the pretense of making the streets safer when it is the criminals with the guns that this would have no impact upon, this constant effort to eliminate guns from the public seems to be a very high agenda. We can only ask why? Clearly, agreeing to UN sanctions sidesteps Congress and the American People. Using UN foreign troops on American soil is another very strange agenda.

Pictures From A Warzone (In Denial)

08/15/13

With the US denouncing actions left, right, and center, it is tough to know what they stand for (or against) as the coup-less coup appears to have turned into a bloody civil war. Casualty reports vary; from 278 people dead (health ministry) to 2,000 dead (Muslim Brotherhood) including 43 policemen and from 2,001 injured (health ministry) to 10,000 (Muslim Brotherhood). As the dreadful images below suggest, the Egyptian people have grown divided beyond the point of no return, and despite the jingoist platitudes and rhetoric of John Kerry describing the "deplorable" situation on the ground, the reality of a civil war now seem inevitable. So with the US still stuck in denial (and for the CIA - phonetically so), pro-Mursi protesters clash with police, military, and one another as all hell breaks loose.

And Now the Rodeo Clown Skit ANNOUNCER May Lose His Job

08/15/13

BOONVILLE, Mo., Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Missouri officials say they will look into whether school district employees engaged in "offensive conduct or remarks" in a controversial state fair rodeo skit.

Missouri State Fair officials have banned a rodeo clown for life from the fair for the skit in which he wore a Barack Obama mask and taunted a bull. The state fair commission apologized Sunday for the clown's performance at the taxpayer-funded state fair in Sedalia.

Mark Ficken resigned Tuesday as president of the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association after fair officials fired the clown for what it called "disrespectful" treatment of the president.

Ficken, who was the public address announcer at Saturday's event, is also superintendent of the Boonville School District. He has disputed media reports he delivered lines that fair officials said were "inappropriate and disrespectful, and [did] not reflect the opinions or standards of the Missouri State Fair."

Ficken contends he only delivered the single statement, "Watch out for that bull Obama!" as a warning to the clown that the bull was approaching.

In a statement, the Boonville School District said it "will not tolerate racially inflammatory statements by its District employees" and it has taken steps to hire an outside investigator, The (St. Louis) Riverfront Times reported Wednesday.

"At the conclusion of the investigation, if it is discovered that District employees participated in the offensive conduct or remarks, then the District will take appropriate action."

Missouri NAACP President Mary Ratliff said "activities at the Missouri State Fair targeting and inciting violence against our president are serious and warrant a full review by both the Secret Service and the Justice Department," OzarksFirst.com reported.

U.S. Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas, in a news release posted on his official government website, said state fair officials banned the clown because "liberals have targeted this man for personal destruction to create a climate of fear."

"Liberals want to bronco bust dissent," Stockman said. "But Texans value speech, even if its speech they don't agree with."

Stockman invited the clown, who the Riverfront Times identified as Tuffy Gessling, to perform at a rodeo in Stockman's district.

So, should we really have been surprised by this “new” threat? No, not if we were paying attention to the real world rather than Obama's version of it. There are two basic issues: First, how do we react now to this particular danger; and second, how do we forestall such threats in the future?
