Immigration Fail: Immigrant ties up, beats wife after text message

A man is behind bars after tying and beating his wife in the presence of a child after he saw a text message from a male friend.
The incident happened Tuesday, Feb. 11th that began as the victim was driving home on FM 802 and Minnesota Avenue in Brownsville.
Documents stated that Luis Carlos Lopez choking the victim after he saw she was texting a male friend.
The victim stopped the vehicle, and honked attempting to get help.
Lopez punched the victim in the back of the head and left the scene.
Almost an hour later, Lopez returned to the home where the victim was taking a nap.
Authorities said the 25-year-old broke the bedroom window and entered the residence.
The victim ran to the door, where she then fell and Lopez choked her again causing her to pass out, leaving marks on the victim’s neck.
According to documents, Lopez then demanded the victim to stop a child in the home from crying.
During this time, Lopez punched the victim and the child as she was holding him, and kicked her legs so she wouldn’t get up.
The abuse continued as Lopez placed the child in a crib, and allegedly tied the victim’s arms with a dog leash.
Lopez threatened the woman that if she called authorities, he would kill her.
Police said the victim admitted this wasn’t the first time the 25-year-old was violent with her, and he is often under the influence.
The victim reportedly requested an Emergency Protective Order and pressed charges against the 25-year-old.
Authorities charged Lopez with aggravated assault, injury to a child, unlawful restraint and terroristic threat.
A total bond of $105,000 was set for the 25-year-old.
