Jennifer Rubin is Still an Asshole

Oops! Jennifer Rubin Goofs, Again

Oh, this is priceless. I intended to address it more seriously tomorrow; however, this is so rich, if a silly, somewhat sad diversion - I couldn't resist. Also, for the record, I was not one of the "GOP extremists" Rubin first attacked. As stated before she did that, I had already taken the same position as Rep. West and defended him for his stance.

I didn't get angry because she was attacking my position, labeling it as extremist. I was angered because she did it to so many friends I know and respect on the Right, ones I simply happened to disagree with on this one. Point being, it wasn't personal. Clearly, Rubin has no honest respect for, or understanding of, genuine grassroots conservatives at all. If she did, she wouldn't be caught using the very same wording as Thomas Friedman of the NYTs to try and marginalize honest conservatives. But stay with me, it gets even better than that.

Friedman today - where would he get such a sad idea?

WATCHING today’s Republicans being led around by an extremist Tea Party faction

Well, maybe he read Rubin yesterday.

And the GOP extremists don’t get their balanced budget amendment passed and sent to the states or the satisfaction of blowing up the deal.

As an aside, given Rubin's initial smear, what in God's name is extremist about a Balanced Budget Amendment? Every state, except for Vermont already has some form of one. How can Rubin have any credibility at all as of the Right if she deems one extremist? It's absurd to claim advocating for one is extremist, even at the Federal level - unless one is, at best, a standard issue liberal. All hail the Post's new conservative?? And they wonder why they lack credibility.

In any event, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that, when you have the Post's new allegedly Right-side writer channeling the NYT's Thomas Friedman, there is something seriously wrong going on. At the very least, it's dishonest to call her a conservative. To go from there, to assuming she somehow balances out talented Progressives like an Ezra Klein and Greg Sargent from the other side is simply a fraud and a farce the Washington Post is willing to perpetrate to try and appear to be balanced, somehow. Sorry, no sale.

So, now we have Rubin trying - and failing - to walk it back a bit. It would seem, Rubin, a big John McCain supporter, was given a new word to play with today, so as to try and stay out of trouble: obstructionist. Ah, my friends will be so relieved to know they aren't extremists, but merely obstructionists. I mean, we all know it couldn't possibly be that they are simply decent, well-intentioned folks worried about a nation over $14 trillion in debt, one in which their childrren hope to grow up in one day, right? Nah, it couldn't possibly be that. They're just nasty obstructionists, of course. Why, I bet some of those rascals are even bitter clingers to boot! What could those people possibly know about anything?

In other words, the hard-core obstructionists who refuse to say yes to anything and were willing to sink their own speaker were not all Tea Partyers, and all Tea Partyers did not line up with the extreme obstructionists.

Oh, wait - what's this new RCP video that popped into my Twitter stream just today?

McCain Slams Own Party As "Terrible Obstructionists" On Senate Floor

Oh, Jenn ... I'm so glad you got the memo, girl! I wish I could do a good McCain imitation. Ixnay on the extremsnay, go with obstructionist, maybe those gotdamned crazy conservatives won't get so damned upset. LMAO!! Tell us, Jenn, do you ever have an original thought of your own, or does the McCain camp aka Republican establishment dictate all of your columns for you? We'll still love you, we just want to know!!!!
