As long as our president has his priorities straight, right?
The Hill:
The Obama administration has missed another annual budget deadline, failing to send Congress a mid-session budget review before July 16.
The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) confirmed Monday that the deadline for the review, due every year on that date, was not met this year.
"There will be a mid-session review and timing is still being determined," spokeswoman Moira Mack said.
The document is supposed to contain revised spending, tax collection and deficit numbers to update the February budget proposal.
Releasing documents late has become a regular event at OMB.
Obama this year released his 2013 budget past deadline for the third year in a row. Under the law, the budget is to be released on the first Monday in February, but came out on Feb. 13 this year.
The Obama administration also delayed the release of the budget last year, waiting until Feb. 14.
Republicans have linked the delays to the failure of Senate Democrats to pass a stand-alone budget for the last three years.
"This makes a more significant statement than the president's recent speeches and interviews professing his vigilant stewardship of the nation," Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) said Monady through his spokesman. "Combined with $5 trillion in debt accrued since 2009, and the refusal of his Senate majority to produce a budget for three years in the midst of crisis, it reveals a troubling detachment from the financial future of our Republic."
House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) pointed out that the mid-session review has never been delivered on time by Obama.
Obama is like a student who waits until the last minute before finals and then pulls an all-nighter. The president attends basketball games, plays golf, goes out on "date nights" with his wife, and takes frequent, expensive vacations on the taxpayer's dime while the work of the executive branch of government takes second place.
How is it that these deadlines -- written into the law itself -- can't be met? Does OMB need more staff? Or is it that the president doesn't do his homework and decisions that can only be made by him are delayed because Obama is just plain lazy?
Not like community organizing when you can sit around all day talking radical politics with your buds, eh Barry?
