State conservatives pledge to uphold Defense of Marriage Act
A Bay State conservative group yesterday promised to take up the legal fight against gay marriage in the wake of the historic decision by the Obama administration to abandon its defense of the 15-year-old Defense of Marriage Act. Kris Mineau, president of the Massachusetts Family Institute, said he planned to ask House Speaker John Boehner to appoint a special prosecutor to defend the Defense of Marriage Act, and to ask the Appellate Court to give his group legal standing to continue an appeal of a ruling in Massachusetts. “We’re asking to be recognized as legitimate defendants,” Mineau said. “It’s very...
