MassResistance put crucial pressure on Congress!
Just weeks after Obama's "Safe Schools Czar" Kevin Jennings resigned as Obama's "Safe Schools Czar," the office he ran in the US Dept. of Education has been demoted after its funds were severely cut by Congress in the upcoming federal budget.
Although it's difficult to pinpoint the exact amounts, it's estimated nearly three-quarters of the funding to Jennings' "Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools" is being cut by Congress in the upcoming 2012 budget! Jennings' office received an estimated $410 million in total in last year's budget!
According to Education Week (a liberal journal covering the education industry), on Monday, June 20 a top US Dept. of Education official announced that because of budget cuts, the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools was being eliminated and its remaining programs were being transferred to a newly created "Office of Safe and Healthy Students" which will be set up in a lower echelon of the DOE (under the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education). [Also note: Education Week's accounting of the 2011 funding is less than what we've uncovered.]
This follows nearly over eighteen months of pressure from MassResistance and media outrage (using our research and reports) about Jennings' horrible history as a homosexual activist and his use of his Federal office to push the homosexual agenda in schools across the country, and our demand that his office be de-funded.
MassResistance's efforts were basically a two-pronged approach: Publicizing and Pressuring.
Publicizing our research on Jennings and GLSEN
We compiled and posted a comprehensive report on Jennings' activities going back decades. Our reports on the homosexual activities with children by Jennings and his organization GLSEN (Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network) -- including the infamous Fistgate, Little Black Book incident, Jennings' support of a perverted anti-Catholic display at Harvard, and other issues were widely publicized.
Beyond description. Just one example: Packet given to kids at GLSEN conference -- where Jennings was present as Executive Director -- includes oral sex and fisting instructions, transgender hormone injection info, and much more. HERE
Last year 53 Congressmen sent a letter to Obama asking that Jennings be removed. In addition, Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX) submitted a resolution in the US House to have Jennings removed. Both of these efforts referenced MassResistance material.
The Washington Times, Fox News, various high-profile blogs and other media across the country called for Jennings' removal in editorials and TV reports, using MassResistance material.
Other pro-family groups, such as Family Research Council extensively used MassResistance research in their literature warning people about Jennings.
(In addition, last year Jennings helped introduce Bill 4530 in Congress that would require normalization of homosexuality, transgenderism, cross-dressing, etc., in America's public schools. He also set up an "anti-bullying" conference at the White House in March, part of the larger pro-homosexual propaganda effort.)
Lobbying and pressuring Congress
MassResistance was the only group actively lobbying and pressuring members of Congress on this disturbing issue.
MassResistance set up an on-line petition and gathered over ten thousand signatures from outraged citizens across America. Most of the signers also indicated they would be willing be involved personally in the effort to remove Jennings.
But even more important, MassResistance talked at length with several key Congressmen and their staffs to make sure that this was a budget priority. We made sure that they knew (1) the horrible background of Jennings (2) that there was widespread support for defunding him, and (3) how passionate our 10,000 petition signers (and others around the country) were about this issue.
In the end, Congress got the message. Although we would have preferred that all the programs be gutted, the overwhelming amount was certainly cut.
As payback: Jennings' allies attacked MassResistance
Jennings himself cited the pressure he was getting from the media and Congress, as well as the impending budget battle over his activities, prior to his decision to leave. During the past eighteen months, Jennings' allies in the media and on the Left attacked MassResistance both by name and by implication for our efforts, some with particular venom.
In December, 2009, the Washington DC homosexual magazine MetroWeekly complained that MassResistance was behind much of the Jennings "smear" from conservatives.
Later that month, the George Soros-funded attack site Media Matters began to target MassResistance as the "source for right-wing media attacks on Jennings" with a number of vitriolic postings.
In August, 2010, Jennings addressed a meeting in Washington, DC, about the conservatives' "extensive attacks" on him and how he thus felt constrained to openly push his agenda in Congress. He thanked Media Matters for "debunking the lies" (i.e., the truths!) about him.
In May the national homosexual magazine The Advocate acknowledged that Jennings was "The target of social conservatives during his Education Department tenure."
Obviously, the Left doesn't like our work!
In any case, a lot of people may think the battle in Washington fighting the homosexual agenda is a lost cause. We disagree!
