Liberal Media Group Unveils New Site Honoring Biased 'Truth Tellers'

The liberal Center for Public Integrity – run by former “60 Minutes’ producer Charles Lewis – is launching a new and tilted website called “Investigating Power” to honor “key American journalists who have documented critical moments of modern American history with bravery, grit and perseverance.” Those “key journalists” include Woodward and Bernstein, Mike Wallace, Christiane Amanpour, and Helen Thomas. “Each gives observations on their careers and the ongoing importance of truth telling.”

The critical historical moments hit the usual liberal markers – “McCarthyism,” the civil rights movement, Vietnam and Watergate, and curbing corporate power and government excesses after 9/11.

“At this critical juncture in the history of American journalism, as the news media and the nature and extent of original reporting itself undergo a very difficult transformation, we must reflect on the inherent, incalculable value of original, independent reporting in our nation and in the world,” said site creator Charles Lewis.

Funders of this celebration of “independent” (read: left-wing) journalism include the MacArthur Foundation, the Streisand Foundation, and the Schumann Center (run by PBS omnipresence Bill Moyers).

In one of her videos with Lewis, Helen Thomas uncorked the usual line: “The passivity of the American people amid lies, the passivity of the press knowing they were lies and saying nothing. I don’t know whether it was the corporate heads playing ball with the White House, or whatever. There was definitely a change in terms of our moral compass.” Everyone was gung-ho for war, giving in to those dreaded “neocons” against innocent Iraq.
