At least two people Tweeted from the president's meeting with shooting victims and their families at an Aurora hospital. POLITICO's Jennifer Epstein reports on the home page:
Obama and White House press secretary Jay Carney both made assurances that they would not use Holmes’s name to avoid drawing more attention to the shooter, the brother of aspiring sports reporter Jessica Ghawi said on Twitter. Carney confirmed that he’d agreed not to use the shooter’s name.
Another person in the room for the president’s visit, sports radio host Peter Burns, said on Twitter that Obama was aware of Ghawi’s passion for sports. “She was [a] girl with passion that was going places,” Burns said the president told family members.
The president also offered some levity to a victim without a driver’s license who needs to fly home. “I have a little pull with the TSA,” Obama joked, according to a tweet from Burns.
UPDATE: Obama said after meeting with victims and their families that the whole world is thinking of them. And he said he assured them that, “Although the perpetrator of this act has received a lot of attention, that attention will fade way."
