Romney should Trade: “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours”
I heard an interesting concept that makes perfect sense. It comes from Wayne Root:
Mitt Romney should offer to show everything: school records, tax returns, and medical records. He should do this in exchange for the President doing the same thing.
It has been speculated by some that the President is unwilling to show his college and medical records because they may show statuses that point towards birth abroad. This isn’t necessarily a Birther issue; people will often take advantage of whichever status best serves them to accomplish their current goal. For example, it would be very challenging for a mediocre student at Occidental College to move on to the Ivy League as Obama did. IF he had wanted to take advantage of his time abroad and IF he was motivated by a need to improve his status, he may have been willing to claim himself as a foreign student to get out of the California school and move up to Columbia before heading over to Harvard Law.
It’s feasible regardless of whether he was born here or not.
There has never been such an effort made by a sitting President to hide his past. It took years to come up with a birth certificate that is still questionable at best. Now, every effort is being made to keep his educational and health records sealed. If Romney is waiting for the mainstream media to ask the questions, he shouldn’t be holding his breath.
Right now, Obama and David Axelrod are turning every eye towards Romney’s tax returns. If the Romney campaign is smart, they will take the calculated risk of asking for full disclosure from both sides. Then and only then will the Obama team consider backing off the issue. They certainly won’t release the records no matter what.
