Lawyers for Rick and Ryin Reese, New Mexico gun dealers imprisoned without bail for well over a year, “filed a motion to release them until their sentencing date,” a source close to the case informed supporters this morning.

“Anyone who can attend would be WONDERFUL,” the source continued. “If you can't be there, please keep us in your prayers for release of the guys after 477 days in jail.”
“The Reese family, facing up to five years in prison, is just days or weeks away from being sentenced for the paperwork violations,” the Tea Party Patriots of Luna County, who have done comprehensive reporting on the Reese case throughout, confirmed today on their website.
“Rick and Ryin Reese have remained in jail waiting for sentencing, while Terri has remained out on bond,” today’s report reminded readers. “In an unusual development, attorneys on behalf of Rick and Ryin Reese have filed a motion for emergency release from custody. Although details of the motion are not known, one reason cited in the motion was learned this morning: Violation of their Constitutional rights.”
In spite of being acquitted of knowingly abetting gun trafficking and having money laundering charges against them dismissed, convictions for making false statements remain a threat to three of the four family members (son Remington was acquitted of all charges). These have been characterized by Jeff Knox of The Firearms Coalition as “the comparatively minor charge of lying on gun sales forms -- even though the lies they were convicted of were perpetrated by federal agents and the Reese's crimes were that they ‘should have known’ that the agents were lying.”
Gun Rights Examiner has also noted and documented apparent testimony discrepancies in past reports -- from more than one federal witness.
For those wishing to attend next Tuesday's hearing, the United States District Court is located at 100 N. Church Street, Las Cruces, N.M.
