COLUMBIA, S.C., Dec. 23 (UPI) -- The South Carolina Employment and Workforce Department's website was offline Saturday evening after being defaced, a spokeswoman said.
WMBF-TV, Myrtle Beach, reported people trying to log in to the agency's website at one point were greeted by a message stating "This Site Was Hacked." The TV station said the message was no longer accessible Saturday evening, and the site was still down.
Spartansburg's WSPA-TV reported department spokeswoman Adrienne Fairwell described the 6:30 p.m. incident as a "website defacement."
She said the agency's technology team was examining the website and would remove the defacement.
She said there was no evidence any personal information was compromised.
South Carolina's Revenue Department hacked in October, an incident that put millions of South Carolinians' personal information at risk.
