Former Police Chief Pressured into Zimmerman Arrest with No Probable Cause, Fired

The former chief of police was pressured into
making an arrest in the Trayvon Martin case
The police chief responsible for arresting George Zimmerman of the murder of Trayvon Martin is speaking out for the first time about how that arrest has been made.

Bill Lee told CNN that he had no probable cause for arresting Zimmerman but the decision to charge him was a political one.

He was pressured into making the arrest by city officials who wanted a man in custody, and nobody was interested in whether the charges would be dropped afterwards or not. The ex-chief was fired after the Zimmerman arrest for refusing to follow orders.

Lee was also a defense witness in the Zimmerman trial. As I wrote earlier, the defense made its final arguments today and the 29-year-old shooter's fate now lies in the hands of a jury.
