Barack Obama, Terrorist in Chief?

By Larry Johnson on October 15, 2011 at 8:49 PM

The Obama Administration is up in arms over the apparent effort of people connected to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard to murder the Saudi Arabian Ambassador in the United States. They are decrying this as a blatant act of terrorism and an act of war. Let’s accept that at face value for now. What would we say if the Iranians organized the sale of weapons and saw that they made their way into the hands of criminal elements in the United States? What would we say if those weapons resulted in the murder of more than 200 people? That would be terrorism.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Barack Obama and his Administration, with the help of Eric Holder, are terrorists pure and simple:

In a conference call this morning with Chairman of the House Oversight Committee Darrell Issa, reporters were told the Attorney General in Mexico has confirmed at least 200 murders south of the border happened as a result of Operation Fast and Furious.

“I would be remiss if I didn’t mention, as the Attorney General in Mexico is so concerned, she’s made the point that at least 200 Mexicans have been killed with these weapons and probably countless more,” Issa said.

Eleven crimes in the United States have been linked to Operation Fast and Furious up to this point. Issa said he expects as the investigation in the operation continues, more crimes connected to Fast and Furious will come to light and be exposed. This is not surprising, considering out of 2500 weapons the Obama Justice Department allowed to “walk,” and that only 600 have been recovered, the rest are lost until they show up at violent crime scenes. The damage from Operation Fast and Furious has only started to be seen. Remember, the Mexican Government and ATF agents working in Mexico were left completely in the dark about the operation.

It is astonishing that the media and public are in high dudgeon (i.e., a feeling of intense indignation) over Iran’s intent to carry out a possible terrorist attack but not terribly alarmed at the fact that our own government has blood on its hands.

The plot involving the Iranian American is not, as some rightwing firebrands (e.g., John Bolton) claim, an act of war. I fully accept as true that the Iranian American used car salesman traveled to Mexico with the express intent of recruiting Mexican drug cartels to carry out some act in the United States directed against the Government of Saudi Arabia. I fully accept as true that Ababsiar, the used car salesman, has a cousin who is part of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. But the “plot,” and I am being very generous in describing the idea of killing Adel Al-Jubeir as an actual plan thought thru, was a joke. The DEA informant who offered to plant a bomb (unspecified) in some restaurant in Washington, DC (also unspecified) asked for $1.5 million dollars to carry out the attack.

How much did he get? Less than $100,000. Don’t tell me that that this represents the best and the brightest of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard aka IRGC. The IRGC are in truth some bad asses who are very capable of organizing ops to kill people. They helped in the bombing of Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia back in 1996. If they organize and fund an op it will be carried out. This amateur hour? Not a chance. We don’t know the full story of the relation between Ababsiar and his malevolent cousin, but I am certain that the cousin was not acting at the direction of “higher authorities.” Why? If that is true then we are now confronted with an IRGC that has become so inept and so incompetent that they cannot organize a bomb in Washington, DC. Yet, they can somehow also build state of the art nuclear weapons? Right.

One other red herring in this mix. Some writers have advanced the notion that Iran was trying to retaliate for a recent spate of Israeli sponsored assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists. I can’t follow the logic here. Israel’s intel service arranges to whack Iranian nuclear scientists. Iran, understandably, is miffed. So what does Iran do to retaliate? They contact a failed used car salesman in the United States and leave it to him to conjure up a plot to kill the Saudi Ambassador to the United States. HUH?

With respect to the Iran plot there was never an actual plan for a bomb. None of the components for any kind of device were purchased or assembled. It was at best conceptual (and poorly conceptualized at that).

By contrast we have actual murders with weapons supplied by the Obama Administration. Those weapons were put into the hands of blood soaked criminals. That is actual terrorism and the U.S. Government is responsible for promoting/sponsoring actual terrorist attacks inside Mexico and inside the United States.

One other point about the willingness of Mexican drug gangs/cartels to participate in terrorist attacks inside the United States. The Mexican groups are more vicious and brutal in some aspects than their Colombian counterparts 20 years ago. Nonetheless both share common traits. They use violence to further their economic interests or retaliate against persons or groups who directly threaten them. It is laughable to believe that the ZETAs in Mexico could be persuaded to launch a bomb attack inside the United States for the paltry sum of $1.5 million. They wipe their ass with that amount. Money is why they traffic in drugs. They make enormous sums in moving heroin and cocaine without incurring the kind of risks associated with backing a bomb plot in Washington, DC.

The Mexican drug gangs may be vicious thugs but they are not fucking idiots. Accepting a cheap ass proposal from an Iranian-American used car salesman is akin to deciding to be a moron.
