I make note of the month and day since it was a mere five days before Obama tossed his hat into the 2008 presidential election ring. February 5, 2007 was on a Monday, and by the following Saturday; February 10, 2007 , Obama declared his candidacy for the 2008 presidential election.
I was digging through my archived election 2008 posts yesterday and came across this post dated April 23, 2008. So I thought to myself, why not do a repost of it and add some other archived Obama Wright material dating back to the 2008 election. Since Obama is running for a second term, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to remind people of the high level of esteem Obama held his “friend, mentor and pastor” [of 20 YEARS] the vitriolic, racist, Marxist Jeremiah Wright to.
America needs Jeremiah Wrights

And as I also previously reported on June 2, 2008 here, Obama found the “explicitly political aspect to the mission and message of Trinity …appealing”
(LA Times) Barack Obama: Portrait of a pragmatist
As a raw community organizer in Chicago in the ’80s, Obama preached reaching out to attain goals
Dr. Wright’s talking points (3.1.7) for Trinity United Church of Christ its Web site and the Black Value System (in response to Eric Rush’s comments (2.28.07) on the Hannity and Colmes show):
• One of the biggest gaps in knowledge that causes the kind of ignorance that you hear spouted by this man [Eric Rush] and those like him, has to do with the fact that these persons are completely ignorant when it comes to the Black religious tradition. The vision statement of Trinity United Church of Christ is based upon the systematized liberation theology that started in 1969 with the publication of Dr. James Cone’s book, Black Power and Black Theology.
Wright’s TUCC “Talking Points” are no longer available on TUCC’s website but here is the archived cached link.
And what did Dr. James Cone believe? Here is a sampling.
“Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community … Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.
