Chick-fil-A, Obamacare and Us

The Chick-fil-A incident should finish off Obamacare. With Chick-fil-A the beatific mask of the Left slipped and we saw behind it the hideous reality. What is the Left really about? Control. Control. Control

Leftist mayors had no problem stepping on the First Amendment, not to mention the American tradition of fair play. Mayors and other government officials proudly broadcast that they were going to corrupt their own licensing processes for their political agendas. They were going to interfere with procedures that are there to protect public health and safety and the integrity of neighborhoods through zoning.

Beyond the illegal interference with allegedly neutral government processes, these politicians were demanding blacklisting of Chick-fil-A. And from Hollywood, scarred by blacklisting in the 1950's? Not a peep, with the notable and honorable exception of Whoopi Goldberg who came crashing through. But she is noteworthy for being alone. From those Hollywoodites who could not abide Elia Kazan standing up against bringing Stalinist gulags to America?

What does the Chick-fil-A incident tell us about Leftist control of our health care, which is what Obamacare ultimately is? Suppose Don Cathy, CEO of Chick-fil-A had suddenly needed a heart or kidney transplant? Would his life be regarded by the powers-that-be as being of less or no value? What about his children or grandchildren if they were suddenly afflicted?

Suppose a Leftist hard case like Elizabeth Warren were Secretary of Health and Human Services? We know that the Obamacare system is always going to be in financial crisis because this is true of all government programs. Suppose Don Cathy's case has to go before a Death Panel, which we know will be populated by Leftists, or be kicked up to the Secretary?

Yes, months or years after the event, when all involved parties are likely dead, there will be some settlement of the denial of care. But what about in real-time, the marvelous system we have now, where doctors will walk through walls to treat you in minutes with the most sophisticated procedures, training and equipment in the world?

Chick-fil-A shows us the future of our medical care. Do you want it to be in the hands of the Rahm Emanuels and Thomas Meninos and Elizabeth Warrens when you are rushing to the hospital with a sick child wondering whether you have worth, political or otherwise, in their eyes?
