TEHRAN (UPI) -- Iran's culture ministry cut off Internet access to state-owned Russian news outlet Voice of Russia, the network said.
Russian officials said there was no warning or reason given for blocking the outlet's website and officials said they have sought a response from the Iranian embassy in Moscow, Middle East News said Saturday.
"It is especially surprising because the Persian service of the Voice of Russia is a government medium, and usually has a fair stance toward Iran," the news agency's statement said.
Russian officials said the move might jeopardize "high level" "friendly" ties between the two countries.
