Laguna Heights teenage prostitution investigation "far from over"
An investigation into a “cash for sexual favors” scheme is far from over.
Cameron County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested Martha Ochoa on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old Laguna Heights woman is facing multiple criminal charges.
Deputies allege she prostituted two teenage girls, who both eventually became pregnant.
But Sheriff Omar Lucio said the “sex for cash” scheme is far from over.
Reports show that the twin girls were prostituted to a Laguna Vista resident Gonzalo Landero.
Investigators told Action 4 news that Landero confessed to paying $40 to $80 dollars for sexual encounters.
Neighbors said the girls seemed rebellious, used vulgar language and stayed out late.
A report revealed that the teens are not only pregnant but also had a sexually transmitted disease.
Sheriff Omar Lucio said deputies believe the teens may have sex with more men.
Deputies are now searching through cell phone records and asking for the public’s help.
Records show that U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are also looking into the case.
Child Protective Services (CPS) is also investigating the case and have placed the girls in foster care.
Action 4 News did reach out to both of the suspects families.
Ochoa's family denies the allegations and say the investigation is twisted.
Landero's family tells us they're having a difficult time coping with these allegations.
They Landero is not the father of the teens' unborn babies.
