A woman is facing felony charges after a scheme where she pretended to sell homes and kept the cash people gave her for a down payment.
Brownsville police said Ruth Medina surrendered on theft charges on Saturday.
The 28-year-old woman is accused in a scheme where she pretended to sell homes off Naples, Rivera and Hamburg Streets in northwest Brownsville.
Investigators told action 4 News that she took money from prospective buyers but cancelled the sale at the last minute and kept the down payment.
