Producer Jake Cook sent me a link to a story that said Rusty Humphries, heard locally from 3 to 6 p.m., was detained in Egypt for reasons unknown.
The story has no details, according to All Access.
Humphries is spending the week in the Mideast, including Jerusalem. Cook wrote me this:
Last I spoke to him, Rusty said that he and news anchor Jennifer Perry were headed to the Southern Israeli city of Eilat. Yesterday, he talked about crossing the border into Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt to speak with some citizens of those countries.
He’s supposed to be doing his broadcast live from Jerusalem tomorrow afternoon at 3pm.
It sounds like Humphries was not supposed to be in Egypt!
He moved from Oregon and joined WGST earlier this year to do a local show. He continues to do his syndicated show, which pays the bills.
Article from "All Access" site:
TALK RADIO NETWORK and CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WGST-A/ATLANTA host RUSTY HUMPHRIES has been detained in EGYPT along with WGST producer JENNIFER PERRY, his syndicator has informed ALL ACCESS.
Details are incomplete at press time, but HUMPHRIES is scheduled to be in JERUSALEM TOMORROW and TRN is hopeful that he will be released and on the air by WEDNESDAY
