ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO (Worthy News)– Yet another case of academic alien-ation in Roswell, New Mexico?
A lawsuit by Liberty Counsel alleges that the Roswell Independent School District retaliated against a school Christian group by suspending its members after giving Krispy Kreme doughnuts with Bible verses to their teachers; one student was sent home and two others spent a Saturday morning alone in a classroom for four hours.
“Some teachers are worried about their students giving them bullets, and this school suspends students over a Bible verse,” said Dean Mathew Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel. “These students are living their Christian beliefs by showing kindness; it is outrageous that the Roswell school officials are mean to these students solely because they are hostile to their Christian faith.”
In the past, the Christian students gave sandwiches, hot chocolate and candy canes to the student body and faculty; they also distributed rocks painted with “Psalm 139,” but when a student contemplating suicide over a past abortion was given a model baby with the Scripture, “You are fearfully and wonderfully made,” she cried and prayed with them.
However, the students were removed from class and told to cease further Christian acts.
