“The Indignants”

The southern European version of the Occupy Wall Street movement is called “The Indignants” (Indignados in Spanish). Today the Indignants, and their allies in various anarchist groups, staged massive demonstrations in Italy, vandalizing railway carriages, setting up burning barrels as barricades, and having all sorts of traditional anarchist fun in the name of opposing corporate plutocrats and global capitalism.

In other news, Geert Wilders, the leader of the PVV party in the Dutch parliament, called Cecilia Malmström, the European commissioner in charge of home affairs, a “left-wing hippie”. Mr. Wilders’ criticism was prompted by the EU’s immigration policy.
