Staff Report (Muncie Free Press)
TAMPA, FL - While the mainstream media hasn't really been reporting that much on activities of either the Occupy Tampa group or the anarchists that are expected to show up, the Occupy Tampa folks have got their LiveStream up and going. (There have been a few reports from big media like Newsday and the NY Daily News. )

If weather gets out of hand, the Occupy Tampa website is asking for help with shelter. They also have a plea out for attorneys to help them. They wrote:

Recently we’ve dealt with an increasing amount of police harassment. On the night of Friday, August 17th, West Tampa endured some of the most ridiculous misconduct we’ve seen in a long time. Someone associated with Occupy Tampa just sent out a text message saying the police pulled her over and questioned her about Occupy. Also, we’ve had ongoing drama with the city and code enforcement. So, to any lawyers out there who support us, please volunteer your contact information so that we may seek your advice during future police encounters. The more contacts we have, the more likely we’ll find someone free to help during the next situation.

Newsday wrote:

The few hundred protesters gathered under rainy skies in a park about half a mile from the GOP convention on Sunday said an impending hurricane that is supposed to dump heavy rains on Tampa won't deter them from trying to get out their message that America needs to change, especially for the middle class.

Giant blocks of ice spelling out the words "middle class" are melting on a warm, sticky day. Occupy protesters say it represents the melting away of the middle class in America.

The RNC is expected to open briefly Monday to make an announcement and then go into recess, although this may change as the weather situation is still a little unknown.

"Due to the severe weather reports for the Tampa Bay area, the Republican National Convention will convene on Monday August 27th and immediately recess until Tuesday afternoon, August 28th, exact time to follow," RNC chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement.
