An ex-husband is behind bars after police believe he showed up to his ex-wife home with a machete in hand.
The alleged crime happened on Thursday, April 3rd, and Juan Alfonso Hernandez Jr. was arrested in connection to the aggravated kidnapping.
Police say the ex-wife claims Hernandez showed up to the window of her parents’ house.
That’s when he showed a machete and demanded for her and their children to come out of the home, documents obtained by Action 4 News alleged.
According to a police report, the victim feared for her life and was able to escape when Hernandez was stopped at a gas station.
The victim then told a store clerk about the incident, and authorities were called to the Stripes convenience store.
Pharr Police Department and Hidalgo Police Department responded to the scene.
The victim and children were not harmed, but the woman told authorities he threatened their lives.
Hernandez was issued a $75,000 cash or surety bond, and was transported to jail.
