CRIME: Most of 17 illegal immigrants who risked public safety during high speed chase captured, one deceased

Authorities are investigating an immigrant chase that ended in a rollover accident leaving at least 16 people injured and one person dead.
The chase ended with a crash near Whitewing and Saloman Chapa Drives just before 11 a.m. Friday.
Full details were not immediately available but according to preliminary reports, a white SUV was involved in a chase with law enforcement officials.
Investigators confirmed that 16 illegal immigrants were injured while one is dead.
The driver and three others allegedly fled the scene prompting authorities to set up a perimeter and manhunt in the area.
The fatal accident happened blocks away from Lorenzo De Zavala Middle School.
La Joya ISD officials said the middle school, La Joya High School and La Joya West Academy have all been placed under lockdown until further notice.
"Student safety is La Joya ISD’s number one priority," La Joya ISD officials said in a statement. "We ask that parents remain calm, as all children in the schools are safe and free of harm. The lockdown remains in effect until further notice."
