NAME THAT PARTY: Donna ISD police chief fired for "not following political directives"

5/17/2014

Partisan Politics at it's Finest Hour:

Donna ISD Police Chief Roy Padilla is off the job after the school board votes in executive session to terminate his employment.
Donna ISD released this statement on Chief Padilla's termination:
“At this time Chief Padilla is no longer employed by Donna ISD, however, Donna ISD thanks Chief Padilla for his service to the District and the Donna ISD Police Department.”
Former Chief Padilla declined an interview but confirmed the termination.
Action 4 News has attempted to call Interim Superintendent Jesus Rene Reyna several times, but has not received a call back or confirmation of the termination.
A call to the police department revealed Sgt. Daniel Walden has been placed as interim chief of the school district police department.
It is not clear when the termination was approved, but it comes following a school board meeting Tuesday night.
A person who attended the meeting told Action 4 News that the item was believed to have been discussed during the school board meeting's executive session.
Sources told Action 4 the former police chief was let go for "not following political directives" of the school board.
