Pharr police charged 22-year-old David Herrera and 26-year-old Jesus Castillo with the early Monday morning robbery.
It all happened on the 1500 block of Military Highway around 1:30 a.m. Monday.
The male victim told police that he was trying to hitch a ride from a black Chevy impala with Herrera, Castillo and a third man inside.
One the three men took out a gun and demanded the hitchhiker hand over his money and valuables.
The victim ran to a store and the vehicle fled the scene but got into a chase.
Police found the car in a ditch and were later able to arrest Herrera, Castillo and the other man.
Herrera and Castillo appeared before a Pharr Municipal Court judge on Tuesday where they were each given $1 million dollar bonds.
Investigators are not releasing the name of the third suspect but he is expected to be arraigned at a later time.
