Loretta Lynch, Barack Obama’s nominee for Attorney General, once blamed the Bush administration for politicizing the Justice Department, Gotnews.com has learned.
In a speech at Harvard Law School, Lynch blamed “a lack of trust in our criminal justice system” on the Bush Administration.
“Eight to ten years ago the [Justice] Department was unfortunately politicized,” she said.
“The Civil Rights division became a shadow of itself,” Lynch said on the panel.
Lynch’s remarks came before her controversial nomination during the lame duck session of Congress.
The Justice Department has gone through a “post-Watergate era,” Lynch said. “I think we’re coming out of that [in the Obama Administration].”
