Attorney General Kathleen Kane has hired a new press secretary who marks the second key staffer to come to Pennsylvania from Arkansas.

Aaron Sadler, who will serve as director of communications, was the chief administrative officer for the Arkansas Attorney General's Office. Last month, Kane also announced the hiring of Blake Rutherford, the Arkansas attorney general's former chief of staff.

"Aaron's enthusiasm for public service and experience in state government and law enforcement communications make him an excellent addition to our senior staff," Kane said, in a written statement.

The latest hiring continues a shake-up in the Attorney General's Office after 61 staff members were implicated in a growing email scandal, four of whom were fired and 11 suspended without pay. It also follows a grand jury investigation into alleged leaks from the office.

Kane's Arkansas-centric hiring also follows her retaining of Lanny Davis, a crisis manager who represented President Bill Clinton during impeachment proceedings. Kane herself is paying for Davis and prominent defense attorney Gerald Shargel to represent her.

In the wake of the grand jury's investigation, Kane has faced renewed calls for impeachment of her own. Historically, however, impeachments are rare in Pennsylvania. The grand jury that was investigating leaks from Kane's office is expected to meet again early this year.

Sadler began his career as a journalist, working as the Washington correspondent for Stephens Media, before going on to serve as the Arkansas attorney general's press secretary.

Acting Communications Director Renee Martin, who served as Kane's spokeswoman in recent months, was expected to return to her previous post as education and outreach director.
