Gaddafi's "Captured" Son Resurfaces Smiling, Free, and Defiant in Tripoli

The ICC was negotiating the evasive heir-apparent's transfer to The Haag already- what does this say about the enigmatic rebels we've all but installed in Tripoli? When asked, the only thing the main rebel spokesman had to say -in his best imitation of Baghdad Bob- was "This could be all lies!"

But it is possible he actually was captured (the ICC had confirmed it) yet escaped rebel custody: in fact, the opposition forces appear astonishingly incompetent, as oldest brother Mohammed Gaddafi -who was not an element of the regime- already bolted from his 'house arrest' yesterday as well (!)

What we do know is that the regime spokesman and favored son Seif al-Islam Gaddafi's sudden appearance at a Tripoli hotel came as a shock to all, and prior to that celebrations on the streets of Tripoli had already all but disappeared due to fear of residual regime snipers and/or continued fighting.

Events have now shown them that they were right to be -and remain- plenty scared... this one may not be over. And while the Gaddafis' credibility is dubious at best, even the rebels admit brigades of Gaddafi loyalists remain on the outskirts of Tripoli, and "could be in the center of the city in half-an-hour."

Asked if his father was OK, an almost-cocky Seif al-Islam replied "Of course".
