Actor Michael Douglas' son injured in Pa. prison
NEW YORK, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Cameron Douglas, the 34-year-old son of actor Michael Douglas, suffered a broken leg and finger in the Pennsylvania prison where he is an inmate.
Cameron is serving a nearly 10-year sentence in the Loretto, Pa., prison for selling crystal meth, then smuggling heroin behind bars for himself.
The New York Post said Cameron was seriously injured this fall after an unidentified crime-family captain put a $100 bounty on him for being a "rat" after his psychiatrist, Dr. Robert Millman, said during a bail hearing Cameron had agreed to testify against his suppliers.
"He broke his femur, which is hard to snap, and had to have a rod inserted," a prison source told the Post. "He told health services staff that he hurt [his leg and finger] playing handball. You don't break a femur playing handball."
The insider told the Post a doctor's aide misdiagnosed Cameron's broken leg and a blood clot developed.
"She thought it was a sprain, so he wants to sue this woman. He's still walking around on crutches two months later," the source told the newspaper, adding no one has been punished for Douglas' injuries.
