A young woman is facing serious criminal charges after police allegedly found more than 11 pounds of cocaine in her car.
Brownsville police arrested 21-year-old Dayna Velasquez on a possession of a controlled substance charge on Friday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that an officer pulled over Velasquez for a traffic violation on the 1400 block of Boca Chica Boulevard.
The officer reported that Velasquez appeared nervous and did not have her driver's license or auto insurance.
Police said the officer asked to search her car and found five bundles with more than 11 pounds of cocaine in a bag on the front passenger side.
Velasquez allegedly told the officer that an unknown person gave her the drugs until further notice.
The 21-year-old appeared before a Brownsville Municipal Court where she was issued a $100,000 dollar bond.
