Two more arrested in aiding Edinburg shooting suspect

A man and woman are currently behind bars after they were allegedly harboring a wanted man in the Edinburg shooting of an officer.
The pair were arrested at two separate McAllen residences around 10 p.m. Saturday.
Lieutenant Oscar Treviño told Action 4 News the man and woman aided and assisted Benarbe Lee de la Paz to avoid his arrest.
Police said the pair is facing hindering apprehension or prosecution charges.
De la Paz, the pair that was just arrested and the other three linked to the Edinburg shooting are all expected to be arraigned Monday afternoon after a press conference is held.
Authorities have not released the names of five of the six suspects at this time.
The charges the six people are facing include:
- Attempted capital murder charges
- Aggravated robbery charges
- Tampering with evidence charges
- Hindering apprehension or prosecution charges
- Aggravated robbery charges

- Hindering apprehension or prosecution charges
Police arrested de la Paz along with the first three arrests within days of the shooting that left an Edinburg officer injured.
Authorities said the officer responded to a disturbance Thursday night at a residence.
As the officer entered the home, he was shot multiple times.
Paramedics rushed the officer to a local hospital for non-threatening injuries, and he has since been released.
Details on de la Paz’s state at the time of his arrest have not been released at this time.
