Chicago's Gun-Free Utopia: 2 dead, 7 wounded in Saturday shootings

Saturday shootings left two men dead and seven wounded on the South and West Side.
The first fatal shooting took place about 3:45 p.m. in the 700 block of West 69th Street in the city's Englewood neighborhood when two gunmen opened fire at two men who were standing across the street from the assailants, police said. 
A 31-year-old man was shot in the back and died later at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to police. A second male, 21, was shot once in the right arm.
Kenneth Anthony, 31, of the 400 block of West 66thPlace,was pronounced dead at 4:44 p.m. at Stroger, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. 
Chicago Fire Department officials said they took one victim to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and the other to John H. Stroger,  Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Both were initially listed in serious-to-critical condition, fire officials said.
Fifteen or 20 shell casings were found at the scene, police said.
Sources said the incident was gang-related. Area South detectives are investigating.
About 8:05 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in the chest in the 900 block of Windsor Avenue in the Uptown neighborhood. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
Most recently, a 20-year-old man was shot in the back at 54th Street and Harper Avenue in the Hyde Park neighborhood. He made it to the University of Chicago Hospital without the assistance of paramedics and is in good condition, police said. That happened about 11:15 p.m.
Two men were dropped off at Holy Cross Hospital with gunshot wounds after they were shot near the intersection of 66th Street and Fairfield Avenue, about a block from the hospital. A 20-year-old remained at the hospital with a leg wound while another 20-year-old man was stabilized at Holy Cross and transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
In another shootings on Saturday evening, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the jaw in the 9300 block of South Ada Street at 7:27 p.m., said Police News Affairs Officer Stacey Cooper. He was listed in critical condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Cooper said.
An additional attack Saturday evening wounded two men on the West Side, according to Cooper.  
A 19-year-old man was shot in the back and a 20-year-old man was also wounded in the shooting, which happened in the 500 block of North Laramie Avenue, said Cooper. Their conditions were not available.
