The News ExchangeCPP hosting series of meetups across WNC

Let’s talk unbiased, in-depth and investigative journalism in Western North Carolina — from Asheville to Murphy, from Boone to Brevard.
Carolina Public Press’s award-winning staff will be visiting all 18 westernmost counties of North Carolina in the coming months to host a meetup with readers, donors, volunteers and content-sharing partners during a series of free, public community meetings called The News Exchange.
We want to talk about journalism and the news in your community. What’s going overlooked? What is going under-reported? What needs an investigative reporter to ask more questions? What’s the future of independent media, high-quality news and what does that mean for our communities? And what can Carolina Public Press offer you — where you live, work, volunteer, worship and act?
We hope you’ll join us to talk about these issues and learn more about us — the region’s only nonprofit online journalism service providing the 18 westernmost counties of the state with unbiased, in-depth and investigative reporting as well as educational opportunities to journalists, students and others.
We believe that public interest reporting is critical to an informed, engaged electorate and to ensuring government accountability. We believe in high-quality, high-impact journalism that matters for Western North Carolina.
We know that many of you do, too. And we’re looking forward to talking more about how to boost this type of information in your own community.
