A teen is behind bars after he allegedly sexually abused a 13-year-old girl.
The abuse reportedly began the summer of 2013 and continued through January 2014.
The victim made an outcry at her school back in May 2014 that Leo Villanueva sexually abused her more than half a year.
According to Combes police, Villanueva was 18-years-old when he abused the victim and was staying with her family.
Police said Villanueva moved out of the family’s home at the end of the summer, but kept in contact with the underage girl until January 2014.
Investigators issued an arrest warrant for the teen for the offense of continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Villanueva left Combes once he learned there was a warrant out for his arrest.
Investigators found Villanueva at a home in Weslaco, and took him into custody.
The teen reportedly admitted to the sexual abuse.
Authorities transported him to the Cameron County Jail where he is waiting for his arraignment.
Villanueva could face anywhere from 25 to 99 years in prison.
