Former Rio Grande City police dispatcher linked to tortured body



Starr County Deputities arrested former Rio Grande City police dispatcher and the wife of Francisco Garza, who is charged with capital murder, in connection to the tortured body of a man found Dec. 8.
The Rio Grande City Manager told Action 4 News that Nayarit Cortez began working with the city June 26 of this year.
Because of the ongoing investigation, Cortez was terminated today.
Authorities told Action 4 News that Cortez was served with three warrants.
The misdemeanor charges included failure to report a felony, false report and hindering an arrest/prosecution.
Cortez witnessed a confrontation between the victim Carlos Alberto Garcia and the three men charged for the murder at her apartment.
Garza, Luis Sanchez and Andy Munoz were linked to the murder where Garcia's upper body had multiple stab wounds and his feet were bound with speaker wire.
Cortez, who was pregnant at the time of the murder, is working with authorities.
She is currently out on a PR bond.
