Autopsy shows Valley woman died from fatal stabbing
A preliminary autopsy shows that Elizabeth Garcia-Tamez was stabbed and beaten to death, allegedly by her husband Juan Jesus Tamez.
Austin police responded to the couple's home last Saturday after a man called saying his wife was dying.
When authorities arrived, they found Elizabeth dead inside the residence, and Juan with his clothes covered in blood.
He collapsed at the scene and was unresponsive.
According to information obtained by Action, Austin police responded to another incident after Elizabeth called authorities saying Juan pointed a gun at her in 2012.
Elizabeth filed a protective order against her husband, but it expired months later.
Jesus is currently behind bars on a $1 million dollars,
The couple did have a 10-year-old son who was not home at the time of the murder.
Funeral arrangements for Elizabeth is scheduled for Thursday at San Benito Fneral Home.
Visitation begins at at 2 p.m. with the service at 7 p.m.
The burial for Elizabeth will take place Friday.
