A "Houston man" is facing criminal charges after authorities allegedly found $300,000 dollars in cash hidden inside his spare tire.
It all happened during a traffic stop on southbound U.S. Highway 77 about seven miles south of Kingsville on Monday.
A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state trooper pulled over a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by 24-year-old Uriel Mayorquin-Carrillo.
The Houston denied a request by the state trooper to search his pickup truck but a U.S. Border Patrol K-9 arrived to the scene.
The K-9 officer alerted investigators to 10 bundles with $300,000 cash inside a spare tire.
State troopers arrested Mayorquin-Carrillo on a felony money laundering while the bulk cash smuggling case remains under investigation.
