Endoctrination: Summer internships offered at Environmental and Conservation Organization

(HENDERSONVILLE, NC, May 16, 2014) – Three intern positions are offered at the Environmental and Conservation Organization (ECO) this summer. Deadline to apply is June 3. These unpaid positions are for part-time or full-time work, which will begin as soon as possible after the candidate is accepted. Interns will work with committee chairs leading projects involving Green Buildings, Gardens, Water Quality, Stream Monitoring, and Recycling. The Energy Committee Intern will help plan and execute the 2014 Green Homes and Edible Gardens Tour to be held August 9 and to plan and promote a series of Sustainable Living Workshops.
The Water Quality Intern will work with the Water Quality Administrator to perform biomonitoring and chemical assessment of stream quality, will work with the WQ Committee and Adopt-A-Stream teams, and will research stream quality issues.
The Recycling Intern will contact businesses to set up recycling assessment visits and assist the committee chair with the recycling assessment.
ECO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization started in 1987 and located in Hendersonville. ECO’s mission is to help citizens preserve the natural heritage of Western North Carolina and to be an effective voice for the environment.
