A man accused of sexually assaulting a child just over five years ago is behind bars in Harlingen.
Harlingen police said the mother of the child went into the Harlingen Police Department to report her daughter had been sexually assaulted.
John Anthony Lucio is accused of the crime involving a girl who was around 10-years-old at the time.
He is accused of abusing her during about a two year period, Harlingen police said in a press release.
An arrest warrant was issued for Lucio, and a Harlingen detective found out Lucio was living in Northlake, Texas, which is located about 45 miles northwest of Dallas.
Harlingen police contacted Northlake police, and Lucio was arrested on the outstanding warrant.
He was extradited to Harlingen, and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first degree felony.
Lucio's bond was set at $750,000.
Action 4 News does not identify victims of sexual abuse.
