Who laid the foundations for our National Defense?
They were minute men and farmers
Who believed Paine's "Common Sense"
They knew freedom wasn't free
That it came at a great price
So, for you and I they were willing to give their lives
From the first days of our nation
They were committed to its liberty
And we can see their heroic sacrifices by looking into history
From the hallowed ground at Gettysburg
Where their voices cry, "Do not let us to have died in vain
You must fight the darkness with only light!
Or Lady Liberty looses her flame"
There was World War I where some enlisted too young and reckless
Like the "Doughboys" who just simply wanted to preserve what is precious
It was the first time they had fought in foreign land against a grave threat
And only achieved victory because "Providence" guided their steps
There was World War II where the Godless Nazis were opposed by faithfulness
And were defeated because of a bunch of freedom loving patriots
Japan, Korea,Vietnam... to the fall of the Berlin Wall
All in name of preserving life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for us all
In the Sands Of The Middle East, today their heeding the call
All in the name of preserving life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for us all
So please remember this
Whenever a rifle in a pair of boots
With a helmet hanging over is something you see
Is that they continue to give their lives
For the sake of you and me
Happy Memorial Day Weekend and remember the "GREAT SACRIFICE" of our Fallen Ones!
