School employee jailed for physically abusing student with special needs
|
A teacher's aide sits behind bars tonight after being accused of assaulting an elementary school student with special needs multiple times...
Melissa Guerra was a teacher's aide at Ogrady Elementary in Mission, and tonight she is behind bars charged with injury to a child.
Mission police said the 8-year-old victim's father reached out to Child Protective Services (CPS) when his son with special needs started coming home from school with bruises on his body.
CPS stepped in to investigate and took their findings to the Mission Police Department.
Mission police immediately took action and arrested Guerra Friday morning, and she was arraigned later that same day.
According to Mission police, Guerra has been charged with one count of injury to a child, but will most likely face additional charges.
Guerra's bond is set to $100,000, but might increase based on the findings throughout the investigation.
Police confirm Guerra is no longer working at Ogrady Elementary.
Both parents and school officials are cooperating with the police investigation.
