Tareq Salahi, the "famous" White House party crasher is preparing to jump into the VA-7 congressional race. Salahi says he will be running as a candidate of the Independent Green Party of Virginia. Currently, Salahi is waiting for hear from the state board of elections to verify the 3000 signatures he turned in to get on the ballot.
“I had decided to run. Originally it was going to be in the 10th district,” Salahi told ABC News. “The Independent Green Party asked me to look at the 7th because they were doing a lot of researching – that Cantor wasn’t going to win it.”
Salahi and his ex-wife appeared in the headlines in 2009 for crashing a White House state dinner.
The alleged “party crashing” was criticized as a publicity stunt for the Bravo TV show “The Real Housewives of DC,” but Salahi insisted that he and his wife were actually invited to the event, albeit informally.
