NIGHTLY NEWS

The hits just keep on coming for the NFL.
Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer has been arrested on assault charges, including aggravated assault and preventing someone from calling 911, it was revealed Wednesday evening.
Phoenix police said the charges stemmed from two separate incidents that are alleged to have occurred at his home in late July. A report was first made to the Phoenix Police Department on Sept. 11, and when detectives questioned Dwyer, he admitted to the incidents but denied any physical assaults, police said.
Dwyer was being booked into the Maricopa County Jail on Wednesday on one count of aggravated assault causing a fracture, one count of aggravated assault involving a minor, two counts of criminal damage, one count of preventing the use of a phone in an emergency, and assault, police said.
In a statement, the Cardinals said they became aware of the allegations only on Wednesday afternoon and have deactivated Dwyer from all team activities. The National Football League said the allegations "will be reviewed" under its personal conduct policy.
Dwyer and his wife, Kayla Tobin Dwyer, have a son, Jonathan Jr., who was born in February 2013.
Dwyer's arrest adds to the NFL's headaches in just the third week of the season, after superstar running backs Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson were cut and suspended, respectively, by their teams for domestic violence and child abuse allegations. And the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday announced that defensive end Greg Hardy was put on the exempt-commissioner's permission list (meaning a "voluntary" leave of absence) just hours after the Minnesota Vikings made a similar move with Peterson.
