The multiple murder occurred in the municipality of Villanueva, near San Pedro Sula, in the Caribbean province of Cortes.

Apparently, Verdial was traveling from a ranch he owned to San Pedro Sula in a pickup truck when gunmen driving in two vehicles opened fire on him the police official said.

As a result of the gunfire, Verdial’s vehicle went off the road into a ditch, while the taxi driver – who had been waiting for passengers at an assembly plant at the scene – was also hit by at least one bullet and killed, the police report said.
