A man is behind bars accused of slapping his girlfriend’s 1-month-old son.
Records show the alleged crime happened on July 25th at a home in Harlingen.
Jesus Hernandez is accused of slapping the infant six times because he “woke up crying for food”.
The mother of the 1-month-old told her mom about the incident.
That’s when Hernandez allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a knife and said he would take his own life if the baby was taken away from him.
Police were called and the 20-year-old was arrested on charges of terrorist threat family violence and injury to a child.
The baby was taken to a local hospital in Harlingen and released after a cat scan and x-rays were performed.
An emergency protective order was issued on Saturday, July 26th, jail records show.
Hernandez was placed behind bars at the Cameron County Jail, and his bond was set at $125,000 for the charges.
