EFE Rolls Out Upgrade of “Green” News Site EFEverde.com
MADRID – Realizing the potential of multimedia, adding new functionality and improving the user experience were some of the principles that guided the renovation of EFEverde (EFEgreen), the global environmental news platform of Agencia EFE.
Besides aesthetic changes, such as favoring more neutral tones for easier readability and navigation, the revamped site offers links to “Mangas verdes,” EFEverde-produced programs that air on EFEradio.
The makeover retained the organization of content into seven major categories: Biodiversity; Climate; Sustainable Development; Energy; Life +, devoted to news of the European Union’s conservation initiatives; Environmental Journalism; and Science; and two geographical areas: Spain and International.
The enhanced EFEverde.com includes more links, better access to the environmental blogosphere, new photo galleries featuring the work of EFE’s environmental photojournalists and an advanced search function.
EFEverde’s YouTube channel also has a prominent place on the site.
With more than 5 million views since its launch in Spring 2010, EFEverde.com has become the standard for environmental journalism in Spanish.
Agencia EFE created EFEverde to serve as a gathering place and megaphone for all those active on environmental issues and the upgraded site offers improved interconnection with social media such as Twitter, where EFEverde already has some 52,000 followers, as well as Facebook, Google+, Digg and Meneame.
